Hi.

Okay, its me again with another question.

I really want this domain name, but I did a whois, because it is unavailable. However, when I search for the site, nothing comes up. there is no website for that domain name.

What happens to domain names that people do not use anymore?

I have tried to contact the owner, but no reply. I dont even think he is available at that phone number any more.

Is there a way I can get it besides him?

Any info is great.

Thank you

No. Someone paid for it for X number of years. It is theirs for X number of years unless they sell it or it is violating some law, then you can get it by court order.

if it is due to expire anytime soon you can get a 'snap' on it from snapnames.com

what this does is when the name expires it goes through a cycle and is put back into the pool of available names. snapnames then attempts to register the name within a few hundreths of a seconds of it being available.

it costs about $60 but you can find cheaper affiliate sites that would be like $40 - $45.

its by no means guaranteed you will get the name but if you really want it this may be a good way to go about getting it...

if however there is more than say 2 or 3 months before it expires hold off until then before snapping it... a snap lasts for a year and if it doesnt get the name you want then you can re-use it for the remaining time on another name and so on and so on.

hope this helps.

Look around there are also some many other services. I would put bids/backorders from many of them if I really wanted it.

good luck :) remember to put bids across multiple sites... this is very important and increases your chances. remember that private services may also be competing for it (Buydomains & Ult Search) so just because the backorder isnt taken doesnt mean someone else isn't eyeing it.
