I'm looking to build a new dual cpu rack server. This is going to be used for game servers (not company, personal use). Here is what I'm looking at:

Tyan Mobo
Dual MP 2600+
1.5gigs DDR PC2100 ECC (2 gig?)
Dual WD Raptor 10,000 SATA Drives & Backup (SCSI is expensive, this is faster than Parallel ATA)
2U (Better for cooling)

Any suggestions? The biggest departure are the SATA HDD's. I think I want to run two in RAID 0 for preformance, and then have just a big IDE for nightly backups. I don't think I need all the speed a SCSI can offer, and its much more expensive.

Suggestions? Thanks :)

Please give me estimates on hardware prices. I have my bandwidth pretty well calculated. (NYC Internap woo hoo!)

Those specs look great. You may want to just start off with 512 then upgrade it later, but other than that those look like great specs. Which games will you be running?

Any idea which tyan board I should get specifically? And should I use software or hardware RAID?

I'll probably start off with 1 Gig, going to be running Half-Life servers.

newegg.com sells a nice one. I think it costs around $220, so it isn't to pricey.

As to the raid, get a nice SATA Raid card. Check out the Promise FastTrak S150 TX2+ Serial ATA Raid Controller Card for $96 on Newegg.
