Hello,

I'm a client of burstNET and we have a dedicated server there.

Today, something like 9 hours ago the server goes down. So i called burstNET and requested a reboot.

After ten minutes or so i got an email stating that there is no need for a reboot ,because the server is working fine.

I did trace and ping to the server from my computer and from another server i have at VERIO (DigitalNation) which shows that the connaction is fails on the server side (server down...). So i emaild them and requested to reboot asap !

After 20 minutes i got an email telling me that they will reboot it now....ok...i was happy !

BUT: After 30 minutes i see that the server is dows so i called them - i have been told by phone that they are in the proccess of rebooting (didn't know that reboot a server should take more than 5min.)

Waited and waited and i saw that server is still DOWN and no reboot was done.

So until now for the last few hours i'm trying to call and email them - no email response and no phone response (voice mail).

Do any of you had such problems ?
Do you know about any web-based tool they have- in which i will able to reboot the server by myself ??
Any Advices ?

Thank you !

If you can telnet or ssh into it:

su - root

then

shutdown -r 5

works nicely. But it doesn't sound like you can get to the box. I don't think they would provide a web page where you can reboot a server. That would just be like asking the hacking community to attack your servers.

Good luck,

Brian

And i know about utilites which provides some remote reboot tools (reboot which not done thru the system). I will search for link....

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. There are numerous devices that will do a remote reboot of the server. APC makes a good one. I don't think Burst provides this, though. You should ask them.

Seems to be down, my server, their server, what about your server? What's the cause this time...
