Hi, does anyone know if using a service to process credit cards in real-time (Authorize.net, Ibill, etc.) is only supplied through the bank from which you have a merchant account?

I signed up with JaguarPC hosting and have the Akopia shopping cart and I want to be able to process CCs in real-time. My boss says he has a merchant account already from a while ago, and somehow he wants to attach the merchant account to Authorize.net. I'm just wondering if you can ONLY get Authorize.net from participating banks?
Or what would be my options on getting real-time processing of CC's if I already have a merchant account??

Thanks in advance

Hi

We have used E-xact.com for over a year and have had good service and enjoy working with them

There system works only, if you have an existing merchant account.

They simply provide the gateway and authorization and then the next day deposit the funds in your bank account

To integrate into a shopping cart is not very difficult

Hope this helps

authorize.net is simply the gateway part. It should integrate with any merchant account. Contact an authorize.net reseller to get details on how this would work. For help finding one:

Thanks for the info. Mr Britt. E-xact seems a little expensive $179 one time, $50/month + $39/month up to 200 items. Or are those prices already competitive? Anyone else know of services like E-xact that would handle with an already existing merchant account?

Kwimberl: Thanks. It seems to be with the resellers of Authorize.net that I have to signup a merchant account with that reseller. I have my own merchant account, I just need services just like E-xact.com (maybe a little cheaper than that).

Looking for more information. Thanks all

Contact www.ezmerchantaccounts.com and tell them what you want. I am not sure they can help you but they have been very easy to work with. They are an authorize.net provider. Understand that there are different kinds of merchant accounts, i.e. standard merchant accounts for brick and mortor storefront sales where you have the customers signature and then there is the mailorder/internet type where you take orders with no signature. The difference is in the discount rate you pay to VISA, MC, AMEX, etc.

Yes, if you contact an authorize.net reseller they can help you set it up with your existing merchant account.

Note that your rates may change if you were not doing an internet business before.
