View Full Version : Redemption Period?
The Conqueror 05-24-2003, 04:04 PM Hi,
I'm looking to buy *****.com but its unavailable so i did a whois look up and it gave no information except to say
Domain Name: *****.COM Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC. Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com Referral URL: http://www.networksolutions.com Name Server: NS3.NO-IP.COM Name Server: NS2.NO-IP.COM Name Server: NS1.NO-IP.COM Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD Updated Date: 17-may-2003 Creation Date: 09-apr-2000 Expiration Date: 09-apr-2003
I dont understand whats going on. Can someone explain to me please?
Redemption period is an additional time that the original registrant can still renew the name, but at increased cost. I believe that the name (unless renewed) will become available for registration about 30-45 days from the updated date given above. In about 30 days, the domain should enter into 'pending delete', which means it should release in 5 days from that date.
I'm not up on the exact timing, so there is a margin of error in my guess.
nameslave 05-24-2003, 05:25 PM It will be at least 4 weeks away from this name being available for registration again.
17 May 2003 + 30 Days Redemption Period + 6 Days Pending Delete
But since you have posted the name in public, your chance of getting it is now very close to zero, especially when there was already a snap on it. In other words, you may forget it now. Sorry.
Ahh...30 +6..I'll get this eventually. Thanks for the corrected info nameslave.
nameslave 05-24-2003, 07:50 PM To be more accurate: .com and .net (Verisign GRS) drop on the 6th day of Pending Delete while some others have reported that .org (PIR) drops on the 5th. Hope this helps.
Oh..sure...more to remember..:D
Helps a lot, thanks again.
The Conqueror 05-25-2003, 08:02 AM Thanks for your replies. I'm gonna have to keep a close eye on it

hmmm, Its not a VITAL domain but it would be abonus to me anyway, there was already a snap on it? what do you mean?
and i dont see how anyone else would want this domain name? i can understand if it was a domain like 'webhost.com' but its '******.com', not really a common word now.
www.snapnames.com
Someone pays to have them watch for it to drop, and registers it for them. They can be pretty fast, so if it's taken already, your chances are much reduced.
nameslave 05-25-2003, 09:05 AM Go to SnapNames.com and punch in your r***d***.com; you'll see that the domain has already got a backorder on it. SnapNames.com is the industrial leader so far (even with more and more competitors on board now), and a snap there guarantees at least a 50% successful rate (was much higher about a year ago). I don't know if it was your post that triggered the snap or it had been backordered all along, but with that on, you almost don't have a chance registering it manually yourself. Alternatively, you may try other name-grabbing services. Good luck.
The Conqueror 05-25-2003, 09:16 AM ahh its already been pre-ordered.
I think i know who it is that pre-ordered it.
I have another question,
i own and manage the official site to a UK band, www.rolldeepcrew.com. Not too long ago i noticed unofficial sites (rolldeep.co.uk and rolldeepcrew.co.uk) who are owned by the same person and i think he's gone and snapped up rolldeep.com.
I spoke to the band themselves and they aren't happy with those unofficial websites as they have information (lyrics page) that the band do not want up. They also stole images from the official site and we tried contacting them about this.
Does anyone know if its possible to take legal action against this person for violating copyright images and putting up information that the band themselves dont want.
I will pay anyone for advice or to help me on this.
nameslave 05-25-2003, 09:50 AM I'm sure the crew's lawyer knows what to do with this apparent copyright violation.
By the way, your audio tunes links are not working (apart from that extra dot after .com and before the /).
