View Full Version : Looking for a Cheap reliable host
tanger 07-05-2001, 11:02 PM Hello, I'm currently hosted with HostRocket, there service is good but the features don't quite fully fullfill my needs. My site is a online teen community and I really need a Java Chat room.
If anyone knows of a cheap reliable host that allows JavaServlets/Java, I would appreciate if you guys could tell me some.
BTW: Cheap meaning under $8 dollars ;')
Also need at least 5mb of space, 2-3 gb transfer.
Thanks,
Anthony Tang
sweethorizons 07-05-2001, 11:41 PM I have hosturbo.com they offer a non java chat and a java chat provided w/ a speical url. But they are not what you are looking for if your sites uses alot of bandwith and space. Instead of looking for a host that provides a chat why don't you go look for a chat
go to www.freecenter.com
or for an awsome chat go to www.digichat.com (I highly recommend it)
SoftWareRevue 07-06-2001, 12:11 AM sweethorizons ,
I have hosturbo.com
Can I ask you about your experience with hosturbo support? :cartman:
sweethorizons 07-06-2001, 12:23 AM I've been very happy with them sofar.
Ares Network - <<MOD NOTE: Please feel free to PM/Emial user directly.>> offers JAVACHAT!!.
It's FREE and it's pretty cool. Realtime. banners. channels. ,it's great.

Get-Hosted.com 07-06-2001, 02:15 AM Great to have new members... but you gotta realize you can't advertise for yourself except in the Advertising forum.
heh :(
just answering his question.
Followup to the other thread. THe software is InfoChat.
I didn't know what i was typing.
Get-Hosted.com - You're a hypocrite, everybody is a hypocrite here, look at your nickname. I don't know if that's more helpful than what I was trying to do. Well at least you don't have an advertising signature :)
Chicken 07-06-2001, 02:44 AM Quoc, I'm not sure about the hypocrite thing but just email/PM members directly instead of posting URLs for your own sites. That's all we ask.
Note that this does not apply to the Advertising Offers Forums, you are free to post URLs in response to posts there.
(Side note: The user name issue was brought up before, but as of now there are no rules on it).
SoftWareRevue 07-06-2001, 10:40 AM Can't really say anything bad about someone brave enough to call themselves Chicken...:D
Chicken 07-06-2001, 11:16 PM :) Don't ask. Involves Halloween, a chicken costume, and a bit too much drinky drinky...
AnIdiot -- you're not a hypocrite , not a chicking. YOU ARE... _______

Both are great. I have some accounts with their services and they've been fine till now. AletiaHosting has support via AIM, 24/24

24/24?? That's the first time I see that. Must be dog years or something..!?
:D
Sorry if there's something wrong. In my country (Vietnam), they usually call : 24/24
It means that 24 hours a day :) Should I have to say : 24/7 ?

I know 24/7 stands for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. But what does 24/24 stand for? Maybe 24hours a day, 24 days a month???
:D
Alan - Vox 07-07-2001, 07:47 AM Its probably like a fraction, so there support 24 hours out of 24.
WebUser 07-08-2001, 02:31 PM In our language, it often uses fraction (ratio) to compare or rate . For example, 10/24 is just a half of 20/24 . So, if people say 24/24, that mean it works all the time (work 24 hour everyday). :D . How do you think about it? hehe
tanger 07-08-2001, 08:04 PM and zolbian thought he made a joke. hah.
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
mekmal 07-08-2001, 11:06 PM I live in Japan, and 24/24 translates to 24 hours a day 24 days a month which leaves 6 or 7 days a month no body is there. unless it is FEB;) , but being that you are not from here I will agree that being from to totaly seperate culture does sometimes make for misunderstandings.:)
24/24 means working around the clock, I will remember that.
