Heres a good question for all these companies looking at designing alternatives of Cpanel, aka Vaporware

As a host grows, bandwidth becomes a major issue. More customers you got the higher % you fall under having that warez site or mp3 site

Cpanel certainly does not do a good job of monitoring and managing a customers bandwidth, i had direct proof last month

A customer of a reseller used over 3 megs of bandwidth in 1 week, the server didnt even hiccup. Yet, it was too late for our upline to notify us of the used bandwidth until it was too late

Cpanel had a clear limit of 12000 megs on that customer, yet cpanel didnt even bother sending a notice nor suspending the customer

I would love to see a clear and presice bandwidht monitoring in either Jags, Nocs, or VDI's version

It has to be done. It has to.

If they used 3megs and you had the limit set at 12000 meg why would it notify you? 3 meg is .025% of 12000meg so not even 1 percent of the bandwidth was used yet. Or do you mean they used 3mbps of traffic and not 3 megs.

What we are attempting to put together is a usage measurement system that will more accuratly measure bandwidth from all sources of a users site. That should guve you a much more realistic number to bill from.

We are working on it....but it is pretty hard to do, especially with IPless accounts....but think we are on to something :-) ...one of the major fixes we want in NOCSoft.

thats great to know

I was able to get a deal with our Upline...total bill last month was $2500

the resellers resold account was canned after we found out, the problem was our upline didnt give us access to the MRTG report, so we went a few weeks without knowing until they finally got ahold of us, we now have a page that has every MTRG on our network as our homepage so its monitored 24 hours a day and any bit of spike will never preceed us again

The 2 mbps will be passed to our reseller, since it was one of their customers, they are paying in 4 monthly fees, we were lucky

Wow... Wonder what the reseller will do? That's gotta hurt your business.

all they can do is learn a hard lesson and make sure it doesnt happen again

The reseller is still an active customer/reseller

she had signed up the customer with a money order, so there was no way of tracking her customer down. I told her next time she better start contacting them over the phone before she signs them up
