View Full Version : which server "control panel"-type application is best for the money?
mikeknoxv 07-05-2001, 10:39 PM Well, I read through the forums, and now I am thoroughly confused. Will someone please cut through all the promotional BS and tell me which server "control panel"-type application (Plex, CPanel, etc) is best for the money. I’d appreciate it!
cperciva 07-05-2001, 10:56 PM While you're answering the above question, can you also tell me which is better out of vi and emacs, linux and BSD, and Roman Catholicism, Anglicanism, Judaism, and Islam?
Dogma 07-05-2001, 11:07 PM i'd like to know why hot dogs come in packs of ten and buns come in packs of 8 while we are at it.....
BTW, being an agnostic rocks!!
Different people, different preferences. You cannot expect people to agree on everything. Personally I'm still wondering why people likes M$. :cartman: I think you should make your own conclusions and choose your own path to follow. As far as I'm concerned, at this point, I go for CPanel as my platform of choice for purely BUSINESS reasons.
mikeknoxv 07-05-2001, 11:58 PM What's the address to CPanel?
cbaker17 07-06-2001, 12:18 AM Without any promotional BS :)
Plesk: Coding is quality, not as many features as cpanel though, technical support from plesk is tops. OVERVIEW: Quality control panel, but not feature rich, althoug in a month their coming out with a new version that should have every feature your looking for.
CPANEL: Coding is crap, youll be able to verfy this from all the problem posts on this board, on the otherhand, its very feature intensive. Also there will be no more upgrade for cpanel, although another control panel by the name of NOCsoft is supposed to be released by some of the old programmers, but no one seems to have any def. information on this just here say. Also support is little to non on it from what i here.
OVERVIEW: If the features that cpanel has is a must have then cpanel is the way to go, if you dont need the unique features cpanel brings to the table, there are alot of better coded and support control panels out on the market.
Aloha
also i fyou do searches you will see each has a down side of some sort weather it be probs running scripts or something ?
also do you want to have webhosts each control there own domain or are you just doing your own clietns so you will do all webadmin if so might try using webmin ??
maybe more thoughts on what you are using it for
how many domains you plan on what kind of machine etc...
might help others give more good info
mikeknoxv 07-06-2001, 10:59 AM I'm going to be having around 200 virtual hosting accounts on this machine (subdomains + domains), and I want the client to be able to login and change his/her account settings.
I can't seem to find the www address to CPanel, maybe I'm missing something?
davidb 07-06-2001, 12:23 PM Im not sure on this, but I dont think cpanel is sold, it is only given to clients of dedicated servers that resell it or something, not sure, but when I was looking for it, I searched for cpanel 3, and thats what I can to the conclusion of.

here si a link: https://www.vdi.net/cgi-bin/cpanel.pl
well Cpanel is around $100 a month where the others Plesk, Ensim are a onetime fee
may help your decision
BurstNET 07-09-2001, 02:59 PM <<Admin edit : I don't happen to see anyone asking you directly about your version of CPanel, Sean.....>>
Well I do...the VDI version was listed above, so the DarkOrb version I listed as well...which just happens to only have a webpage of info available thru us...because other DarkOrb distributors do not have such info on their sites as of yet.
Someone specifically stated "I can't seem to find the www address to CPanel, maybe I'm missing something?"
And where does DarkOrb refer you to if you send them an email....?
Why http://www.burst.net/cp/ of course....
So I responded as such...
If you feel this is wrong, please contact me and tell me why.
I have always tried to abide by forum rules on such things, but I cannot see why this is a breach whatsoever. I am not listing prices..just responding to the direct URL where to get CPanel.
