They simply made it a requirement that you can't use "potentially viral software" to build applications with their Mobile Internet Tools Software Development Kit. That's just really, really stupid. It would be like telling a programmer they needed to use a certain editor. cperciva 07-05-2001, 06:29 PM Originally posted by qslack They simply made it a requirement that you can't use "potentially viral software" to build applications with their Mobile Internet Tools Software Development Kit. That's just really, really stupid. Correction: Microsoft simply added a requirement that people agree not to violate the GPL. It is the GPL which states that you cannot use both GPLed and non-GPLed code in the same application, and all Microsoft is doing is reminding people that since the MITSDK is not GPLed you can't use it together with GPLed code. If you don't like this, complain to RMS, not Microsoft. erain 07-11-2001, 10:51 PM Originally posted by cperciva Correction: Microsoft simply added a requirement that people agree not to violate the GPL. MS will always do what ever it can to cripple good product that they cant offer. So unless some one brings out a better version of their OS , MS gonna rule. And let me tell you those open source floks only care abt "coding" but they never seem to care abt comsumer, so I even like microsoft sometime. Without it internet wouldnot be a boom for sure. And about apple, I dont think so, their computer costs more and has less software application to try. I mean I loved Mac when I tried it but I am in thailand and it costs more to own a mac, and difficult to get softwares and service is more expensive and I wonder how would they build the empire?? Mac had its chance , they invented their awesome O/S before anyone but could not build an empire. Sun had his time too, they used to talk abt how "network is the computer" but never mass marketed it. Now windows changed it all, they thought of normal consumers and I know their system sucks but all thsese e-commerce is nothing without normal comsumers who are browsing with windows platform. I am not in favour of MS but they did it not because they care but because they saw the opportunity and they took it. |
