View Full Version : Excellent experience with hostpc.com
NightStorm 05-22-2003, 11:32 AM Just thought I'd put in a good work for hostpc.com. When looking for a site a vendor a few weeks ago I consulted this board, now it is my turn to pass on the favor of the reviews I saw here by adding my own experiences.
Anyway: I signed up about 2 weeks ago with www.hostpc.com and it has been an excellent experience. Everything has gone smoothly, they are very responsive (within hours of signing up I was already setting up my site), excellent management tools, good user forum, and I'm very pleased so far.
ANMMark 05-22-2003, 11:39 AM It's nice to hear you're having a good experience there so far.
However, it is a bit hard to rate their quality simply based on a few weeks.
It's cool that you're happy "so far" though.

Maybe I'm just cynical but what exactly did you learn about hostpc by cruising this board?
This was your very first post so you obviously didn't ask any questions about them.
I did a search for them and all I can find is 7 recommendations from total newbies with 1 post.
Seems like an interesting trend don't you think?
Not even one follow up.
Maybe it's just me but I find it strange that this host gets so many posters signing up just to tell us about their 2 weeks of experience with hostpc.
Coach 05-22-2003, 01:03 PM Not at all... a good majority of the reviews I've seen on here have included links. Besides, they've been around since 1998.. why would they feel the need to do something like that.
I'm not doubting this review a bit. Glad you're happy with your host and be sure to come back and let us know how they're doing after you've been with them a while. :)
And just to note, I lurked here for serveral months before I actually signed up and started posting.
hostpc.com 05-22-2003, 01:09 PM I'm really finding it hard to understand why some people feel that because a new user at WHT posts something POSITIVE, there are some people that feel the need to insinuate that there was alternative motives involved. This isn't the first time one of my clients has posted a positive review for our services and had this happen.
Maybe instead of looking for the NEGATIVE information on hosts, if more clients posted POSITIVE feedback, WHT would be a more productive environment to find reputable hosting.
I've been in business hosting clients for over 4 years. We have a below average (nearly NIL) churn rate and we do NO advertising except word of mouth referrals. We definately appreciate our clients sharing their positive experiences with others, but do not FORCE them to ... in any way, shape or form.

I couldn't agree more, but it's so easy to post a false review ehre, it's easy to be suspicious. I am saddened that you had to explain yourself and explain that the customer's post was not fraud. If the customer had written something negative, who would have questioned it's validity?

BINGO!
Thanks for your comments :)

ANMMark 05-22-2003, 01:30 PM I agree. When there is a bad comment, nothing is said. People just start saying "Leave that host behind" making sure their signature is proudly displayed.
My comment wasn't saying anything about the validity of the review. My post was pointing out that it is extremely hard to give a proper review, being hosted only a few weeks.

Well, like I said, I'm a natural sceptic. If you look at my previous posts you will see I'm equally sceptical about negative posts about hosts as I am about positive ones. I always look at the circumstances of the post.
In this case it was a first post. The poster said he consulted this board and came to his decision. I don't see much on this board that would support that claim. There is very little reference to hostpc and the poster asked no questions about them so how was the information obtained? Also, if the poster did spend some time using this board he should have know that a first time poster with only two weeks experience with a host has little credibility on the board.
Hostpc, I apologize for the fact I my post made it appear that you were soliciting comments, that was not my intent. I know a host has no control of the posts of customers or non customers.
