Hi,

I recently tried buying an expired 2 character .org domain name. It didn't seem to work though, even though it said the domain was available. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

the .org registry is regulated by pir.org as of february.

a lot of places havent fixed their whois searches yet for .org names so they may appear as available when they are in fact taken...

for up to date .org searches use http://www.pir.org/whois/

Or it could be the fact that you cannot register 2 character .orgs now.

Yeah, PIR doesn't allow people to register it anymore.

do a search @ WHT ( just pick domains section ) there was few ppl trying to register that domain ( 2 letter .org ) some of them got billed by verisign :) ( it was refunded )

Two letter .orgs are no longer available to register once they drop.

I learned the hard way, I just got a bill for $70.00 on my credit card from Network Solutions for 75.org and YO.org.

Well dirk if you dont recieve the domains you can just do a chargeback, they never told you that they werent availible and let you register them and that basically fraud.

What made you think you could register it by hand anyway?
