View Full Version : joker --> stargateinc
padders 07-05-2001, 09:53 AM | I am trying to transfer domains from joker to stargateinc. An example is www.talkstargate.com but i am getting this message:
Dear Administrative Contact:
Thank you for confirming the request to transfer {talkstargate.***** to Stargate. Unfortunately, your domain is not eligible for transfer at this time due to current status of your domain. Please contact your existing registrar regarding this status since Stargate cannot proceed with the transferring of your domain.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Stargate Communications, Inc.
I have had the domain almost a year, could this be because the domain expires in a couple of weeks? |

I've looked in the Joker Terms & Conditions and the only restriction on movement is that you have to be with them for at least 60 days before moving.
A domain can be transfered to another registrar at the earliest 60 days after the initial registration.
You might want to take it up with Joker directly to resolve the problem |
padders 07-06-2001, 08:23 AM | i emailed them and no reply. Will do again, hourly me thinks. |
Get-Hosted.com 07-06-2001, 01:22 PM I've transferred from them with only 1 week left and everything went great. |
astra4 07-06-2001, 03:58 PM This page on the Joker.com site seems to be about such an error message:

Scott 07-07-2001, 11:56 AM I just initiated a load of domains to be transferred out of Joker, I'll post if any snags arise. |
padders 07-08-2001, 10:23 AM Apparently it was a technical problem with stargate. I have been charged for 2 of the domains that never moved (i have a bulk account), but i am sure they will sort that out.
Moved some others from joker.com, just got the "please reply" email from joker today. |
WebSnail.net 07-08-2001, 10:41 AM Hmm... that's interesting...
I had "technical" & "registrar problems" when I did something similar with Network Solutions where no email was ever sent explaining the problem...
.. but then hey... $registrar_problems = "yes" by default with network solutions... Speaking of which has anyone ever considered going after NS under trading standards ruling...
I mean... when have they ever come up with a solution??

johnnycs 07-09-2001, 12:53 AM I have found Stargate and the service they provide poor at best, 3 days to answer email, 5 business days for web hosting orders to be completed ;)
and on top of that they charged my CC, and I never agreed to any of the services. |
TheOp 07-09-2001, 10:07 AM I have over 100 domains with stargateinc.com.
Low prices, easy control panel and quick phone support.
Couldn't be happier. :) |
Hello
And their whois server was down for 2 days a week ago, Even from their own site I tried to whois some domains registered by them but I got error.
Very stable and reliable :D
I suggest you to change your mind. I have about 10 domains with registerfly.com (something like stargateinc , $9.99 , redirection, DNS etc ) but my experience with them is horible !
I suggest you pay $3 more and save your time and money.

SwissMarco 03-04-2002, 05:16 PM hi,
at the moment it is not possible to transfer domains from joker.com to stargateinc.com, I tryed it severall times since 3 weeks and no success. got now this answer from stargate:
joker.com's who-is system is incompatible with ours. We are currently unable to transfer domains from joker.com to Stargate.
so I dont had any other way as to renew with joker some domains (iiiii....), have still left there some other domains who I also need to renew but I transfer them now to godaddy (they have a 7 days rule) and then later from there to stargate (love there cp and price) !
must say joker.com is not so good like in the old coreNIC-times:
- bad Price
- bad CP
you can get .info much ceaper at powerpipe.com . |
thewitt 03-04-2002, 05:33 PM I find that a very odd error message. The whois databases are not not even involved in order to transfer a domain from one registrar to another.
The inter-registrar transfer protocol is independant of the whois mechanism - at least how I understand it all to work.
In the new distributed whois database model, all registrars are required to adhere to the same whois protocol as well - which allows for a whois query to work - so if the whois was involved, it would by definition be compatible.
This error message makes no sense to me at all.

padders 03-04-2002, 06:15 PM Joker adds something like #0 or #1 onto the end of emails I think inside the whois info for their new version since they became an ICANN registered seller instead of using OpenSRS. These are the domains stargate can't deal with. I think the problem is that Joker have made it harder for the domains do be dealt with (ie the moving company has to go to an extra step to confirm the onwership of the domain by doing a custom regex on it) but I can't see why Stargate can't do this. |
WCSWEB 03-05-2002, 12:03 AM To start off I have been waiting for a credit from them for about 2 months now. On top of that the most stupid thing I have ever seen just happened to me in order for you to modify your name servers with their control panel you have to delete the name servers and create them again that sounds good right here is the catch in order for you to delete the nameservers you can't have any domain asociated with those nameservers if you do it won't let you delete them.

Roy@ENHOST 03-05-2002, 01:42 AM There was once I found a domain that I think is a rare find.
I went to stargate inc to register it.
It was never registered! After few days I went to network solutions to do a whois and found out it is still available for register! Damn. I was really furious then. What if the domain I found is snatched away by other people due to their mistake?
I called them up and after many transfers I was hungup.
FYI: it was a trunk call
I tried again until i get to speak to a guy.
I politely explained to him the situation. Immediately after listening to my situation, he said "Nope it should be registered"
I mean he din even care to check it out and just said it SHOULD be registered. Yeah. It should but you guys DID NOT register it.
I went ahead and register the same domain with other registrar.
Apparently their domain processing system is manual.
Moral of story: Do not register your domain with stargate Inc |
padders 03-05-2002, 05:21 AM I am going through the exact same problem with a nameserver... doh. |
