What tools/web pages can I use to find out who a reseller hosts with?

I have seen people saying they have looked stuff like this up but I dont know where to find out this information.

Thx

Hard to tell as many will have different providers for different servers, and many won't have their main site necessarily in the same place that your site will end up.

Best bet... is to ask them.

Otherwise look at www.dnsstuff.com and you can look up the IP address which may give you some clues, or run a traceroute to the IP to see if you can tell where its going or if there are any hostnames in the traceroute that suggest which datacenter it is.

Well you can very easily tell which DC the reseller hosts with, but to find its parent company is pretty hard. Check the reseller's domain nameservers (some don't get anonymous ones for some odd reason). I heard you could find a clue or two in email headers, but you have to check that out.

do an nslookup on the domain, then do a tracert on the ip address. If it doesn't tell you the hostname of the machine on the first line, then you just do a whois on the ip address.
