the first two are easy to fix, in the control panel you have email settings and for some reason (read cobalt glitch) the alias for that domain name didnt get entered
it has a list of domains to accept mail for as http://www.animepolls.com only so anything@www.animepolls.com will work anything @animepolls.com will get relaying denied just add animepolls.com into the list and it will fix that. the mail config issue is different and i would have to explore that one. so send me an email on it.

You need to install the Pop-before-SMTP update. See http://www.cobalt.com/support/kb/search.php3?ques=mail&qid=786&language=1

I also tried sending email using my raq3's (4webspace.com) main domain as the SMTP server and I got the following error message: (using microsoft Outlook)

<<Error
A message in your Outlook could not be sent using account "manny@mlbox.com." The server did not recognize the recipients or the server refuses to allow you to send mail.

Explanation
<mannylucio@aol.com>...Relaying denied. Please check your mail first.

Error: 5550>>

Is this the same as above mentioned? Do I need to email 4webspace about it?

after installing Pop-before-SMTP update, do you have to add email server alias for the email to work for both email@www.mydomain.com and email@mydomain.com?

From what I gathered, you don't have to add the server alias for mydomain.com Since this is not automatically added by the cobalt CP.

With POP Auth, the auth scheme is checking the pop user account first, then sending mail (within 15 minutes by default I believe), via the same user account.

The server alias field would be for receiving email at both but I don't think it affects sending at all.

In the server management control panel, I selected email server parameters field : Relay for the following Hosts/Domains
I filled in my IP-address and the domains but I still can't get it to work!!!. Isn't this how to enable SMTP on the Raq3 server ?

Any experiences in setting up the SMTP with 4webspace or tera-byte would be greatly appreciated.

Manny, have you installed the POP Auth pkg? Once you do, you won't have to worry about the relay fields in the CP.

If you wanted to relay mail for yourself, you'd have to put your ISP IP there, not the site's IP, etc. But I suggest you forget about that and just use the POP Auth pkg.

Thanks a lot Chicken, you are very helpful.

Now can I install the POP before SMTP package by entering the following URL and then click on .pkg install?
http://ftp.cobalt.com/pub/packages/raq3/eng/RaQ3-en-System-4.0.7-9229.pkg

Or is that something else I should do?

If that's the latest one, yes, though I don't run a RaQ3, so am not up on the latest ones for it.

Hello again, I have installed and turned on the POP Auth pkg. and still does not allow me to send mail !!!

Is that another way to enable the SMTP server?

I think you need to do a check mail before sending any email out.

At least that's how mine works. It authorize you to relay the email after you authenticate when receiving mail.
