Hey everyone...just a newbie here :)
Does anyone have any opinions or horror stories for valuablehost.com?
All of their hosting plans are less than $100 a year! (I think it's very unbelievable considering all the features they offer).

I haven't had experience. I just wanted to get in on this so I can hear other peoples opinions:cool:

I saw their offer and thought I'd check out their site. Looks okay.
There is something that makes me wonder. Maybe this is petty--correct me if it is. I did a WHOIS and their domain is registered for only one year. This gives me the impression that there isn't really a long-term plan. Maybe it's best to play it safe in the volatile web economy, but it just seems like if you wanted to make a go of it you'd make more of a commitment to your company domain....
Just a thought and maybe more applicable generally than just to this host....

I don't think it is appropriate to be judging a host by how long their domain has been registered for. If you are unsure about a host you are looking at why not hook a monitor up to it like qwkmon.com and watch for a few days, and see if the host is reliable that always gives you an idea. Well, thats my 2 cents ;)

Valuablehost is a member of this board, and he has been working hard to bring up his host. I think that if you ask the customers, they will say good things about this host even though they are new.

This is going OT, but, I have to disagree with this statement. Just because a host is reliable for a couple days, or even weeks, doesn't mean they're a good choice. They could have no downtime for a month but then go out of business all of a sudden.
I have nothing against valuablehost and haven't heard anything negative about them. The above comment is just a general statement.

SecNet, I may be wrong but I think he was referring to the length in the *future* that it is registered for, not the length it has been registered for, and yes, I think that's about as petty as you can get. Now that domains can be registered for 1 year (instead of two), to me it makes sense to only register one year at a time. One, sometimes you don't even get a discount for longer periods, and two, registration news changes monthly and who knows what deal, or offer will be available in the near future.
I personally think this is not an indicator of anything, though you're free to discuss it (as I undertand the opposing views). Would seem like the service (either good or bad) would be the most important, but that's just me.

I dont think that domain name registration has anything to do with the quality of a host.
We have been around for 2 years and are almost always registering domains for 1 year periods.
We also know that we intend to be around for awhile.

Service would be the first thing I look at.
And probably my most deciding factor.
I haven't heard anything negative about valuablehost :D

Hi,
I'd just like to clarify something here, it is very easy for us to extend our domain registration with our friends over at powerpipe at anytime.
Kindest Regards,
ValuableHost
