View Full Version : A Thread Removed From WHT
webreseller 05-20-2003, 08:47 PM A thread was posted by us entitled A Fair Value Dual Xeon / Managed Cpanel , we were doing a small marketing poll to get the opinions of WHT users on what is a fair price on this. We are launchine new packages soon and wanted an idea of what clients want.
If anyone could let us know where this thread has gone becuase it seems to have 100% vanished and when we try to access it we get:

blue27 05-20-2003, 08:49 PM Probably deleted by Mods.
webreseller 05-20-2003, 08:52 PM I think so, but the thing is, there was nothing wrong with the thread...
Pilgrim 05-20-2003, 08:52 PM Means it's been moved by the mods to their forum (which we can't see).
Either for review or for editing out certain parts. If it's only the editing of the thread then it will be placed back later.
Maybe the thread turned too much into an advertising thread outside of the ads forum? Couldn't say... haven't seen it.
webreseller 05-20-2003, 08:54 PM Quite possibly, but there was no advertising involved at, we were simply asking a question and as a matter of fact, there was no signature file either...
SoftWareRevue 05-20-2003, 09:19 PM I think you need to study the rules (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/misc.php?s=&action=forum-rules) a lot closer. The answer lies within.
webreseller 05-20-2003, 09:28 PM No need to study the rules, in no way did we imply on the post that we had or were going to have the servers mentioned. We were asking what a fair price would be for that type of service, and I as you are well aware, that happens quite frequently on WHT. The rule you are attempting to refer to is:
Broken Down:
Participants may not use the forum to publish or discuss any information regarding their product or services, or future (possible) products or services
Clearly stated we wanted to get an idea of WHAT WHT clients are looking for, we do not have these servers and may not get them.
The rest is quite clear:
, or any product or services they are, or have been, associated with. This includes, but not limit to suggesting your own services, or services of partners, clients, employers or friends.
BTW: I agree, go Detroit !!! Philly was my favorite, but, Detroit has always been a second favorite.
IGobyTerry 05-20-2003, 09:38 PM SoftwareRevue, I did look at the thread, and even voted in it. I have also seen several threads like it. Including this one (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=144911) which was posted just a few days ago.

The difference between the two threads (even though I don't know about the first one) is that this one was never brought to our attention.
Now it has been.

No need to study the rules, . . . . . Sure there is. There's always time to study.
Let's just look at a few:
Participants may not use the forum to publish or discuss any information regarding their product or services, or future (possible) products or services, or any product or services they are, or have been, associated with. This includes, but not limit to suggesting your own services, or services of partners, clients, employers or friends.
Participants may not solicit the membership for feedback or suggestions on their product or services.
Participants may not use the Forum to solicit users for any project or purpose external to the Forum; public, private, or commercial. Most importantly our userbase is not a resource to be "mined" by individuals, groups, or businesses, for profit or not for profit.
Agree or disagree. They are the rules.
If you have a link to the thread that was tossed, I'll take a look.
webreseller 05-20-2003, 10:04 PM I am not sure what to take on this, I can not help but think this was removed on purpose based on offerings by the parent company...
An email has been sent off to HS to get it resolved, so we will see what happens...
I do know it has been quite some time since we have realy done anything on WHT becuase of reasons like this and I think they are fully justified....
SoftWareRevue 05-20-2003, 10:12 PM Nothing to discuss here then.
