Maybe this question is better suited for efreeservers.

Do feel free to post their reply, as I'm sure many people would be interested.

There are two ways of doing things, going on the 20-month contract or buying the server for the price listed on the front page. If you are in the 20 month contract and you cancel before 20 months are over, then you have to pay the price on the front page for the server.

That's only if you want to keep the server. If you want to move on you don't have to pay for it.

SBrad you are wrong.

You HAVE to pay for the server if you cancel within 20 months. In fact, according to the contract, you also have to pay for the server if efreeservers.com should cease to exist for whatever reasons.

I pulled out my contract and you were *partially* right. I do stand corrected. However, you said, you also have to pay for the server if efreeservers.com should cease to exist for whatever reasons.
This is not true. In fact, under termination, the contract states, "This Agreement may be terminated by E.FreeServers, without cause, by giving the other party 30 days notice via e-mail or fax. In such event, E.FreeServers will be required to pay to the other party an amount equal to the unused and prorated portion of service excluding any setup charges.

Also interesting, I thought was that in the contract they state that any down time on their part in excess of 5 minutes per month (99.99%) results in a payment to the customer of 5% of the monthly fee per 30 minutes, up to the full monthly amount. That's a pretty strong guarantee, I think.

Why not drop efreeservers an e-mail to confirm everything?

We are still waiting for efreeservers to setup our Windows2000 / PIII 1Ghz server.

*** Just fax our contract to them

:)

Aloha,
KSStudio
keep us posted very curious about one of the windows servers myself from them

how did you decide to do your DNS ??

Just my $.02...nah, make that a nickle. But on the Windows server, dns can be done via either PC Anywhere or, even better, the Win2k terminal services client. If you haven't used it yet, it is meant to replace PC Anywhere, and I was surprised at how good it really was. It installs from 2 floppies, and is REALLY fast compared to PCA 9.
If anyone needs it, I can zip up the 2 install floppies and send it to you.

Yes, I did it on a Dell .app server about a week ago to correct a memory problem. Works great.

That looks pretty useful. But the Windows Terminal Services Client is free also. The server comes pre-installed on Win2k server, and will make the 2 install floppies for you. The only reason I offered to send the install files for the client to anyone that needs it is because you need to physically be in front of the server to make the floppies.
