Hello..

I'm looking for a dedicated server for under $150/month.

I'm going be sharing this server with someone else, so each would pay half of the server.

Specs wanted (at least):

700mhz
128mb RAM
10-20gb Hard drive
10gb bandwidth

With low setup fee - if not any at all...
and a control panel installed (cpanel/whm perfered though)

Those are the minimums we're requiring right now - and also the abilility to upgrade the server (quickly) as money and/or needs permit.

If you can make me an offer for something that's under $150/month, that would be greatly appreciate it!!

Thanks!!

The Burst.net Special 9 should work for you.

Thanks Get-Hosted....
But not what I'm looking for (had an experience with Burst - rather not go back - don't want to get into it here).

Any other offers??

Thanks again!

I just recently signed up with Rackspace for a similar deal. $150/month, no setup fee. The processor is 500Mhz, though, not 700. Not sure if that would really even be a noticable difference to your users. As you probably know, Rackspace has just about the best reputation around for support and reliability. It's worth a look.

What they gave you is an AMD processor with a piece of C$%# motherboard. My freind used to work there, there servers are the worst quality around, the support might be good, but the servers are prone to be garbage.

Besides that, i think that $150 is a little bit too much for 10GB's of bandwidth.

Besides, both the hardware and network performance are GUARANTEED in writing. If something goes down, they fix it, replace it, or refund my money. I'm content with that.

P.S. It's not a good business strategy to bash your competitor like that. It doesn't do a whole lot for your own credibility.

I second that. That was not a very nice thing to say. I don't know if you care or not (probably not), but you got a few minus points in my host (dedicated) list of options.

I would rather they go with anyone but rackspace. The inside information I know about them, I wouldn't wish them on my worse emeny. But I am speaking the truth, so it is not really bashing but informing someone about a company. If you had a bad experience with them as a client, I am sure you will be on here, saying similiar things. Just because I am a competitor doesn't make it bad, if I am telling the truth.

Okay, there you go again. You may think you're speaking the truth, based on your friend's opinions, but it's still not good for your own business to say stuff like that. It makes you look like you're eager to take a cheap shot - why would I do business with you, then?

Besides, you're the first person who I've ever seen say this about Rackspace (everyone else I've talked with says they are top notch, just a bit expensive). And as I pointed out, the hardware is guaranteed, and I'm not buying the server anyway. I'm just renting it.

So all in all, you might think you're speaking the truth, but my experience with Rackspace so far has been absolutely wonderful. And that server with the "piece of C$%# motherboard" is serving up my pages fast and smooth. I love it! So then based on my experience, why would I believe what you are saying? That's what I meant about how it affects your credibility.

And that's our sales lesson for today.

Jay,

Shhhh. You're paddling upstream. pbwebtech has a good rep on here, but this thread is shooting yourself in the foot. I think you run a good ship (not a customer) but am looking at those comments like

Analogy Folks: Kinda like knowing someone who worked at a particular Mc Donalds. The information you discover would keep you from eating there. (Despite the taste).
