Anyone who has a United Colo box let me know what type of speed they currently give you. I know they say that you are pluged into a 10Mbps port but how fast do you realy go?

There was a speed test posted here a few days ago, most people got around 13k/sec then the owner pulled the file off saying we were killing the server - at 13k/sec.

Well, considering there are 500 simultaneous users at all times... I wonder how many were trying? could have been hundreds. Who knows... but im guessing at the prices they offer its a completely different reason :P

I dont know why some of you were getting such crappy speeds, it has to be the network card is configured wrong because me and a couple buddys have a server there and i can easily d/l 170kb/sec from it on my cable conn and thats my cap.

I have had an server their for 3 months. I did an massive file transfer from my United Colo box to my Rackshack box. Transfer speed was 7megabits/second for a 1 gig file.

It easially maxes out my 4 megabit cable connection.

Uptime has been great, server is FAST, reliable.

So far, no service outtages at all, all my responces to emails have been answered within 3 hours, reboot requests within 40 minutes (far ammount of time). Only thing I found being a problem, is their phone support/sales. I had problems getting to talk to people during their specifyed hours.

I had a gaming server @ UnitedColo, The speed was great the first month or so, but I started to get Packet Loss (Seems to be a common problem, from my readings on WHT), I dealt with it for another month, and then finally pulled the server.

I still have a box on UnitedColo and things have gotten steadily better of the last 2 months. I guess enough people have abandoned their boxes to stop the packet loss. It is now only about 1/2 a percent higher overall than other colo's.

I had united colo for a month... the first few days it was real stable, then it had it's ups and downs.. but mainly it was up most of the time, but when i emailed them to cancel my machine, they gave me a final date of my server being online, then they took it down a week prior and wouldn't respond to my emails..

I bought servers at UnitedColo in the very beginning. Then the downtime started (which I can deal with), then the capped the ports to 10Mb/s (which I can deal with), then they changed providers (which I can deal with), and then their overall packetloss went from 2.5% to over 4% for a month or more (that I can't deal with).

So I canceled one of my boxes, and kept the other one to offload my non-paying traffic, and to see if they ever get better again. I have lots of boxes in lots of places and keeping one at UnitedColo isn't a big deal.

And stating a fact about their packet loss being higher than most isn't "talking bad" it is a fact.
