WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THIS SPAM OR NOT
Received a spamcop report that a site I was hosting was sending spam. Of course when you look at the body of the email they reference the site that is hosted on my server with a standard http link. However if you ready the actual email and look at the messages headers it was not sent via the website mention in the body of the message or any mailserver that I host. The message was generated from a different domain hosted elsewhere.
If you think this spam tell me why or not spam tell me why.

If it is advertising a site on one of your servers you should kill the account. Other wise you could be seen as supporting a spammer and be added to SPEWS or other great blacklists.

The user is "spamvertising" their web site which you host. If this is the case, yes you should get rid of the account.

Yes I would remove that user immediately, as you do not wanted to get blacklisted.

I'd make sure they are a guilty party...I recall reading somewhere here on WHT about a host who had a similar issue. Either a competitor or somebody he ticked off started spamming the hosts website to get back at him....Another thing that I've run into is business owners who hire outside marketers...unfortunately, the business owner does not know that the outside marketer is really a spammer...The site owner becomes a victim...
Yeah it is a touchy subject what to do??? If you do nothing you get blacklisted, if you take action you could be hurting an innoncent bystander (not saying this person is innoncent, but hypothetically). We had something like this happen, but the person sent us the IP of the person who signed up for the account as an 'opt-in' and it was dropped.
I feel SPAM sucks, but we are putting too many things into place that hurts everyone and blacklist operators know this and call it 'collateral damage' if they have to block an entire subnet.

No but he said he got a spam report and the spammer gave him an IP... how does he know it was the complainers IP?
Was it more than one person complaining?

Contact the account owner, but he'll probably say,: What, Who? we..spamming? Never!
I would remove the account, and if it is nambased site, =immediatly (protect your other customers).
