I am currently looking for a potential employee for the company to work from home as a part time system administrator; must have fast Internet Access at least 128k up and down. Does not have to live in the US and can live anywhere in the world as long as there is high speed access.

Duties include basic support tasks such as...

Create New Sites
Setup DSNs
Edit Permissions
Install New Software/Upgrades and HotFixes
Install New ASP Custom Components and DLLs
Install SSL Certificates
Configure IPs into the NIC Card
Configure New Servers as we add them to the network.

Servers are Windows 2000 Servers with IIS 5.0 and below is a list of software that we work with.

Simple DNS Plus
IMail 6.0
WS_FTP Server
ColdFusion Server 4.5
MediaHouse Live Statistics
ASPMail, ASPImage and other ASP Components

We are looking into offering JSP from Allaire and any experience with this will also be a plus.

Starting pay is $8.00 per hour for 4/5 hours a day from 9 am to 1 pm, extra hours will be available as long as there is work to be done. Hours of work as well as pay will increase significantly after the first 30 days.

Any persons interested in this position please send me an email with experience and hours of availability to carlos@frontserve.com

I forgot to mention that we are based in San Diego, CA but our servers are colocated with www.pwebtech.com in NJ (East Coast).

I would like for our administrator to be available at 9 am Pacific Standard Time; it really does not matter what time it is where they live as long as they can keep up with our schedule.

well frontserve,

first of all are you kidding ?

US$8.0 for 4 hours ?
Its illegal.. Minimum pay for 1 hour of work is US$5.50 and paying below that is illegal in US.

Secondly, you would get such an employee for no less than US$50 per hour.. or may be more than it.

May be I would be wrong  , Can someone correct me. :stickout

I think I may not have been very clear....

$8.00 X 4 hours = $32.00 a day

Like I said it is a simple job and I can do it on my own but would like to have more time to concentrate on sales and other tasks.

Like I also said on my post; Pay will be increased as well as hours of operation if we can see that the employee is dedicated and is willing to work hard.

I also forgot to add the there is no "Telephone Support" or "Live Chat" involved until there are serious issues pending. 98% of all support issues are done using email and we get very little support issues at all; usually less than 25 per day.

As much as I agree that paying less than $5.50/hour is illegal (well actually, you can pay less than $5.5/hour if the total benefits including wages exceed $5.5/hour ... that's how the waitress got paid in the restaurant .. the owner pay them probably only $3/hour, the rest they have to get it from tips ... anyway ....) but there is no rule as to say how much one should pay for somebody outside of US ... In fact, Nike, Rebook, Tommy HF, etc ... pay a lot less (much less) wages for the workers in Asia to maximize their revenues ... ;) Also, though I would feel bad paying less than the US standar for anybody who lives outside of US, I don't see the rationale if these people (who live in Asia, for example) as for the same amount of wages using US standar (note: living expenses is much more expensive in US, not including 30-40% taxes and who knows what else)

Secondly, you would get such an employee for no less than US$50 per hour.. or may be more than it.

Not necessarily ... I know of a really good sysadmin that often hang around here that will consider any offer. I mean, he is really good! Knows not only sysadmin work but also a lot of programming (Perl, etc) .... :) Also, a lot of teenagers in WHT are actually really good and capable of sysadmin works ... They will consider your offer, for sure ... :) Anyway, good luck ....

cheers,

Yeah I know what you are saying; we are currently taking in many applications and would like to have them all in by the end of the week.

This is a great job for any person who may want to further develop their working skills and gain more experience. All applicants are welcome.

Thanks.

I'd be interested but, I'm more of a Linux guy. Even though my main desktop runs NT. Nonetheless, I've only got about 40kb of bandwidth.

We're a small company in San Diego. http://www.intertune.com

We'll do it for no less than $100/hr.

I was thinking of it being more on a consulting basis, only using us when you need to as opposed to saying 4-5 hours work per day.

If you're interested contact us through the site.

I get paid more than that being just tech support :) But if your a somewhat new company, I can understand the low pay :)
