Just taking a quick look at their page. They don't seem to have control panels, which isn't a problem, but if you are new to hosting, not having them can be bad.

IP's are limited which could be a bad thing as well. You may have to do shared IP hosting.

Remember that there are other companies out there that can provide similar services, here are a few:

rackspace.com
dialtoneinternet.com
vdi.net
alabanza.com

Hello

Does somebody use www.insidecrew.com (http://www.insidecrew.com) for a dedicated server?

Thanks

Mike, one thing you forgot to note, vdi.net is only for hosting companies, if your a personal server or so forth you'll have to go with a company @ vdi such as site5, ultraspeed, interserver and others (can't remember their name's or I'd list them :)

Thank you for your reply.

I know there is allways a better host.
But at the moment I can't spend more then $200 per month.

I found other hosting companies, what do you think about these?
www.digitalrackspace.com (http://www.digitalrackspace.com) (Guaranteed host by ispcheck.com) www.skynetweb.com (http://www.skynetweb.com)

Thanks

Daniel, are you happy with VDI? Do you have an example of what the control panel looks like?

Have you had any problems? If you want, you can send me an e-mail.

Collus's site looks like someone was medicated at the time they were designing it.

very weird site.

I agree with that. It did seem a bit odd (quite a thing for those robots, heh). But odd isn't always a bad thing.

Hi,yes actually I have a D-server 1 with them, they work real fast, good price for the service, reability and they have good prices in the upgrades for more rams,HD,etc...
If your concern is just a control panel, ask them if they can install one for you.
But if you know well Unix/linux don't need a control panel. They give a lot of extras for the money.

Thanks monono and jacknet.

It's good to know that there are friendly hosts.
But I can't go with them, they don't allow to resell their service.

What's about www.skynetweb.com?? (http://www.skynetweb.com??)

Their terms and conditions contain this paragraph:

INC is intended for the end user only. Customers cannot sublease, subhost, or give away control of any portion of INC resources. Doing so could result in immediate account cancellation.

And Monono, I don't get a very useful answer from them if I ask they, if they are good.

Hehe, just trust me and ask them, that people are 100% company dedicated to the Web Hosting market. All their customers do web hosting and resell. That portion of their policy is for example if you intent to get the services in your name but you leased to another people.Because like a contract the services are under your name not to your customer,in that case you need to tell them that are you going to do a resell,so that apply to resell and they not give a problem.
Just send them an e-mail with all your questions and if they answer the way you expect about the service, etc. You are in.
They are a very friendly company and understand the needs from every customer.
Cheers !!

We use DialtoneInternet.net cobalt dedicated servers for our systems. $200/month, still no startup fees I believe, 6 month contract increments. Very stable, our main client server has had 98 consecutive days of 100% uptime, so we've been happy with them. We don't use the control panel for anything, but I suppose that's more of a cobalt issue anyway, not the provider.

Hi,

I have a Server at Colossus.net and I'm (was) very Happy with them:

(+) very good Support in many Languages (http://colossus.net/languages.cgi)
(+) so much IP's you want, no extra Costs
(+) no Setup-Costs
(+) own Nameserver (4)
(+) good Connections to the Internet
(+) Controll-Panel via Web (http://www.helpbot.com/ - there is a Demo what you can use) and Telnet (you can make there all want you need to do - for a Beginner no Problem)
(+) free Wusage 7.0 for every Account
(+) free WebMail (Java) for every Server (Account) with 128 MByte RAM and more !
(+) free Secure-Account for every Account
(-) you can not make anything on the Kernel
(-) Price for the Systems * are when I look now with RackLocation.com are not so good
(-) extra Traffic-Costs are high (USD 1.--/100 MByte)

--
* for the Price what I pay at Colossus.net (P133, 128 MByte RAM, 6,4 GByte HD, 5 GByte Traffic = USD 210.--) I get a Power-Server at RackLocation.com (PIII600, 512 MByte RAM, 2 x 10 GByte HDs with Raid 1, 15 GByte Traffic, ... = USD 255.--)
--

OK, when you dont need to put some MySQL Databases on the Server then are the little Servers very good but since I have 2 Databases (Navigation, Forum) on My Server he boots after every ~ 15 Recording ! So I go now to RackLocation.com then I realy need a Power-Server in the Future or lets say now.

Is it just me or does anyone else notice the dodgy insidescrew.net reviews. Beware!

cbaker17
02-10-2001, 03:07 PM
The reviews for insidecrew.com are all fake

1. THey are all from people who have just signed up
2. They use the exact same url http://www.insidecrew.com in every post, if these were different people, some would leave out the url, some would make it http://www.insidecrew.com
3. All post talk about the same things...

This is what happens when people dig these posts out from the grave. Notice that the posts in question (which I will remove I suppose), are from last July (before we all came on here). I'm not going to go back though every old post and remove the advertsing but I'll do it as they surface.

MattF was the mod at the time and I just noticed that he left them, so the rest stay. I didn't notice this before I started to edit the thread. Just ignore what is obviously board-spam.

Meaning, I wouldn't have edited any of the posts if I had noticed MattF's post (including your first one Charles). MattF's post indicated that these posts for insidescrew seemed mostly like ads (as you mentioned), and I'll just leave it at that.

Ahh ok I see now, thart was back in the old days when I was still a wee little chap and did not understand how terrible it was to advertise in a non advertising forum :)
