View Full Version : escaladenet.com - Is a good option?
aurorac 07-02-2001, 07:37 AM I'm just going to order a server from escaladenet.com (Their Cyrix 533 x $49.95 monthly offer).
Is somebody hosted with them? What can you say about their uptime, support?
I need a below $100 dedicated server for application hosting if you know a good option, please suggest.
Jedito 07-02-2001, 07:45 AM Check Here http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=50761&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending
smash 07-03-2001, 02:39 AM Interesting:
acsdatanet.com offers the same exact dedicated hosting plans, same prices, similar order form, etc..
A traceroute shows that escaladenet.com and acsdatanet.com aren't on the same networks.
Sales guy at acsdatanet.com told me they had a colocation suite at pajo.com, I wonder who are escaladenet's providers..
Thank you,
Cedric
donbene 07-03-2001, 08:20 AM Hmm...
support@escaladenet.com appears twice in the acsdatanet.com AUP
TechnoHosts 07-03-2001, 08:34 AM I spoke to their CEO(Ryan Champion @ escalade) and he told me that they had their own NOC. I did the traceroutes and the network came up under their old company

Q. Alright, another question: how come escaladenet.com offers the same exact packages as you do?
A. The owner of Escaladenet is a good friend of mine. We helped each other get
started in the business. He is in the process of a site redesign because we
both keep getting asked the same question. If you look at our packages we
offer higher speed processors than Escalade.

He is right, acsdatanet doesn't offer these crummy cyrix processor, but celeron 667 MHz. A good deal for $49.95.
I have a neutral feeling about them, I mean, it's very strange that they have similar pages in their websites, especially since escaladenet.com seems to be known for lack of professionalism, but I have received answers to all my questions in a few hours and I even been told my server could be up in 8 to 12 hours. That would be great, although I'd like to see that.
Thank you,
Cedric

Lucky, I've contacted them more than 24 hours ago (They promise to answer withing 24 hours) for a quoteon custom build server. Not so special but 256 RAm. I also asked them almost the same set of questions.
Still no quote or answers. Do they want to make business?
Continue to inform us with your experience with them.
Thank you,
Serge

The fact that Clint said that bothers me and the fact that Clint is down
selling my company bothers me even more. Escalade Networks has been around
since 1999 and I'm the one responsible for getting Clint (ACS Datanet)
started in the business, not we got each other started. Look who took who's
content and that will show who was here first. Then check our site on Monday
when we release and announce our Second Generation servers and see who
offers faster CPUs. Then do pings and trace routes and see just who is
"quicker". We run off UUNet (WorldCom) and ACS Datanet runs off Pajo who is
reselling Verio who is running off UUNet's fiber. To add to that, we also
use Globix as one of our upstream providers and they are also one of the
best providers around. We had Broadwing but dumped them due to performance
issues. My point: We only use the best upstreams so our customer experience
with us is beyond excellent.
As far as uptime and support -- we have 99.99% uptime guarantee and 24x7
support. We also offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all servers.

We've got a server with escaladenet and I can most definately advise people not to bother, the 24x7 support is non-existant and we've discovered that even 9-5 support is missing too. In other words, use at your own peril.
AmityHosting 07-13-2001, 06:58 PM now we know who is ex friend and old business partener is ^^^
Not that i have had any experiance with either host...

Whoa. We do not use Verio as our provider. We use several providers. Our main feed if from Internap, who BTW, has massive upstream connections. We are MPLS enabled, ALL gigabit CORE and OSPF areas (i.e. COLO), 96 Strands of cross connected DWDM fiber to 1 Wilshire and every OSPF zone has 2 or more ABR routers (All load shared via OSPF and MPLS). We use RSVP-TE to ensure proper BW is available at all times for mission critical applications and customers.
Just becuase you have UUNET in NO WAY means your faster or better. We had UUNET with an OC3 and more than once we had to pop off of them and too verio or others for better connections.
IF you internal network is not good, then it makes no difference who your upstream is. Please dont say "they use pajo" as if we dont do great business.
Though ACSDataNet is our customer, you attacked the ISP. Lets refrain from that until you know who we are and how we are connected.
Thanks,
Alex Paoli
jarrod 09-23-2001, 02:47 PM I have a server at ACSDatanet and speed is definitely not a problem. It is very fast as far as I can tell. I was downloading a CPAN module off of some valueclick mirror at about 800KB/sec (as in kilobytes not kilobits, is it KB for kilobytes?).
