Be fair to the customer as well as yourself Too many TOS are one sided and unfair to the clients. 2. Define any terms that are necessary. Some hosts use terms without describing what they are. 3. Be accurate. A good example of one term most hosts define poorly is spam. There are two types, e-mail spam and newsgroup spam (not all newsgroups are on Usenet). E-mail spam is not unsolicited e-mail, it is not commercial e-mail, it is unsolicited bulk e-mail (e-mail sent to large numbers of people with whom there is no prior business or personal relationship). walkinman 07-01-2001, 02:42 PM Yeah, that CYA mentality is part of the reason why there are so many negative posts all over the web about bad hosts. May I remind you that you are in a service business. Business is a risk, and if you're afraid to take a risk, stay out of the business. I may keep my domains parked forever, but I will not host with someone who has an unclear, unfair, or "hidden" TOS. Why are you guys afraid to put an easily recognizable link, if not on your index page, at least on the features or support page, where it's easily seen. You can't get to some of them until you're on the sign up page, if then. The link to a TOS should stand out like a sore thumb. If it's hard to find, that tells me a host is hoping I DON'T find it and read it before I click that purchase button. Moderators: A lot of my posts here are negative. That's due to my experiences. I AM looking for a host, (I really think I've found one in Jtan.com) but I WILL NOT purchase hosting unless they meet MY requirements. While looking, why not see if I can help someome avoid my mistakes. I do not represent anyone other than myself and am not trying to create flaming posts. Thanks. :) My apologies. This should have been in general forum. David@Digisurge 07-01-2001, 09:57 PM If you are reselling you can often use your host's TOS. Check with them first but they will often let you use it. |
