Hey everyone,

I am looking into venturing into webhosting. I don't want to buy an existing service and work as a reseller, I would like to start from the ground up and setup my own servers at my own site.

Does anyone know a good method or walk through on how to do this? I have many ideas that I'm putting down on paper, I just need a starting point.

So far, I have a dedicated machine that I have set to run for hosting, a T1 line, RH 9.0 Apache 2.0, and MYSQL 4.0 running.

If anyone knows of any suggestions or sites where info can be obtained, I would appreciate it alot!!!!

Thanks,

Chris

Where was my "no" option? :) Seriously though, don't try and run something from your house. It's just no good unless your house is a major DC.

Well you've come to the right place! Webhosting talk is an excellent place to start. Most questions can be answered by posting to the forums.

That will help you solve perhaps 95% of all problems. For the remaining 5% I can offer you some additional support if you encounter questions that you can't resolve elsewhere.

email me at webmaster@idologic.com.

Cheers
Jeff

Good luck BTW.

I would first look at getting anothe carrier line. right now you have no redundancy and a high failure probability as far as the network goes.

As far as documents try www.thewhir.com

They have a lot

I actually have two locations where I'd be able to get some redundancy going. (crosses fingers) hopefully that will help out with down times, etc... What would i need to do to start? I'll check out the info on those sites!!!

Thanks!! and keep the comments rollin in
