here are my stats.... our project at ticalc.org, who can help us here besides TI?
MCHost-Marc 07-01-2001, 01:17 AM What was your total bandwidth use in GB's the past 2 months?
ShenRoy 07-01-2001, 01:24 AM We use like 3-10GB disk space, I need to contact Magnus to make sure.
http://www.ticalc.org/about/webstats.html is our webstats
but we want to be backed up, just in case....
We use around 3-5 terabytes a month.

 I guess you're looking for a dedicated & paid server?

I guess..... anything will do, we will put it on TI's tab :D
zhoujianfu 07-01-2001, 01:34 AM Hey Shenroy,
2.22GB/day is only about 66GB a month, not 3000-4000!
There are plenty of places that can handle 66GB a month.. but I'd definitely go for a dedicated server. And don't look for any place that says it'll cost you less than about $300/month.. they'll probably change their tune when they find out you REALLY use 66GB a month.
ShenRoy 07-01-2001, 01:39 AM according to Magnus, he tells me 3-6 TGbytes a month. And the bill comes pertty hefty here, several thousands of dollars to host it and keep it up, but people like TI is what keeps us up. But maybe they can help if we ask them, but whoever out there! HELP!
I just want to know, who will dare host ticalc.org .

Thats what i was thinking too :eek2: But if you say the bill is several 1000's per month ...your provider is either charging you $50 per GB of bandwidth or you're using a lot more than that :D

Hmm... I'm confused.

Those look like the 7 day statistics.

Yeah, the ones in parenthesis are the 7 day statistics.. 15GB. Which would still put them in the 60GB/month range..
I wouldn't be THAT surprised if their current place was just charging around $20/GB or so.. I mean, if Texas Instruments is paying, they probably feel can charge whatever they want and not have to worry about non-payment.
Why are you looking for another host anyway? TI isn't going to foot the bill any more?
MattF 07-01-2001, 12:52 PM Its sounds like there's some confusion with bandwidth billing here. The output from Analog looks fishy, perhaps they configured it wrong and are billing you from that. From the statistics it looks as if you use 60GB data transfer per month. If you operate a dedicated server and bandwidth is measure from the port then this will probably equate to 80-90gb bandwidth per month. Have you questioned there billing methods before? Have you asked to see the MRTG graphs for the server?
Something is definately wrong .... this doesnt make sense.
Data transferred: 3.348 Tbytes (15.748 Gbytes)
I went to your stats page and i saw that for the past 6 months your average transfer is 120GB and your tops is 220GB in Sep 2000.
3.348Tbytes doesnt make sense but 15.748 GB make sense for 7 days transfers. Do check with your hosting companies regarding this matter as you said you are being billed thousands of dollars for it. Based on $3 per GIG, your cost will definately be less than $1000 per month based on so many other host here. Some even offer lower prices.
If you dont mind, kindly tell what which hosting company you are on.

Program started at Mon-02-Jul-2001 00:08.
Analysed requests from Mon-14-Apr-1997 18:00 to Mon-02-Jul-2001 00:08 (1539.3 days). So it's 3.345 Tbytes since 1997.
Thanks for clearing this up. If you are being charged thousands of dollars, i do suggest you consider using other hosts. There are many excellent host here that could host your site for less than $1000 based on your past 6 months transfer of 120GB.
