Hello all hosting people :P

I have been looking around and Servercentral.net looks pretty good for me. I wondered about their "unlimited bandwidth", but they offer 20 concurrent connections. I was just wondering, do you think that deal is good with 20 concurrent connections for $85?

I emailed them asking them if they could support my site with 60+ gigs. They said I'd be fine as long as I don't go over 20 concurrent connections.

Do you guys think I'd be fine with 20,000 hits a day?

I will leave others to comment on this "unlimited bandwith thing" :)

Anyway, 20,000 of hits per day may be fine. I host one very popular site with about 6.5 millions (total hits for June, so about 200,000 hits per day) and it only utilized around 20GB of transfer (thanks to mod_gzip).... Load average on my server was only around 0.5 (average of 15 minutes averages, taken every minute using cron) ... Thus, I would say, you should be OK with only 20,000 hits ... But it all depends on the nature of your site ... you may be doing tons of images download and other scripts that will take a lot of CPU Load, etc ...

Anyway, just two cents from me :)

cheers,

I think you'd be better off with a dedicated RaQ or other $99-ish server with a healthy amount of included transfer, than a 400MB unlimited ::shudder:: plan. I think people know these offers are complete b.s. but they are just hoping that maybe, just maybe, *they* won't get burned like so many others have before them?

Yeah thanks guys. I understand the "unlimited" situation. I'll just have to think about it.
