View Full Version : PHPLive deceitful business practices, I'm getting ready to SUE!
I am seriously thinking of slapping a law suit on PHPLive (http://www.phplivesupport.com/) for violating their user agreement, and locking me out of my account 3 months after i purchased their software. To this day, they have not been able to give me a VALID reason as to why my account was locked. This has resulted in my phplive system to no longer function on my server, every page on our site displays the php live symbol yet we cannot use it.
Basically i have purchased a piece of software that i no longer have access to use on my own server, i cannot download any updates nor am able to access my account with them that allows me to log into my account to download the software upgrades.
I purchased phplive 1 year ago this month. 3 months after purchasing their software i found that my account was locked and i could no longer log in. I e-mailed them requesting the reason why. All they did was ignore my every request. I tried to access their forums and i was also locked out as well.
One day i went to their site and clicked on their live support icon. It took 30min before i finally got somebody in chat. When asking about my account they claim that i had posted on their forum that if the logging of phplive didn't stop, or there was no option to turn it off, that i was no longer going to use their sofware. Ok so let me repeat that. PHPLIVE says that i posted on their forum a msg that said, If there was no way to turn of the logging of phplive to my system logs that i was going to stop using their software. So i guess that means that one cannot post questions to problems encountered with PHPLive on their forums? I just can't fathom this.
Is this a valid reason to lock me out of my account after paying good money for 3rdparty software? Please tell me if you consider this to be a valid reason? I just dont get this reasoning. It makes no sense to me. So if i log into the Ensim forums and complain that Ensim is logging huge amounts of data to /var/log/message, that Ensim will lock me out of my account and their forums just because i said that i can't use their sofware if its going to do this, after paying for it???????
THIS IS NOT A VALID REASON to lock a person out of their account. I'm sorry, what kind of company is this? After e-mailing them to re-activiate my account they have continued to ignore my requests. I even called them voice and got the run around. The person on the other end refused to transfer my call to a manager, CEO or anyone in higher authroity. All i got was, "We will call you back" What a bunch of balony. Who the hell do they think they are?
Do you think i have every reason to charge up another purchase then to reverse the credit card charge? I mean come on. If they are going to jib me out of what is rightfully mine, and software i have purchased outright do they have the right to just lock me out?
PHPLIVE violation of their own Acceptance policy.
Their acceptance policy states i have full support to their software for life. They have violated this by restricting access and denying me the use of their software after purchasing it. So far i have received 3 months of support, if you can call it that, out of 12months.
And thats the story of PHPLIVE. I will be serving PHPLive with a certified letter with my intent to take action against them if they dont correct the problem. They should be ashamed of their faces. They dont want to cooperate, refund me or give me a valid reason as to why they have treated me like this? Then so be it!
I can be just as much of a brat as anyone else. I will fight them all the way. Not only that, i will post their doings in the html document that i will esculate to the top position on every search engine to warn people of what they are doing. That will also include a report to the Better Business Buerau and other agencies.
I'v just had it with rip off companies!
ericabiz 06-03-2003, 09:19 PM Hello all,
I was interested in PHP Live until I read this. OZz, can you give us an update on this? Has anyone else experienced problems with PHP Live? Would anyone else recommend it/not recommend it?
TIA!
SoftWareRevue 06-03-2003, 09:47 PM oZz, You should contact your credit card company and request a chageback anyways. Doin't purchase again with the plan of deceiving them.
I had something similar with them about a year ago. Although it didn't start with me making a statement on their forum (different from a question:) ), it had to do with they would not allow me to update the software or give me any kind of support for reasons known only to them. They gave me absolutely no reason. It was several methods of contact and months later they restored what they took away. I think they really need to evaluate the way the treat their current customers.
Everything's been smooth for a long time now, though. It's just that I can certainly understand your frustration. And have absolutely no doubt that they would do such a thing.
Do the chargeback and be done with it.
ericabiz 06-04-2003, 03:33 AM SoftwareRevue, would you recommend PHP Live? If not, what software would you recommend? (Any other input from others reading this thread would be appreciated as well.)
Thanks.
SoftWareRevue 06-04-2003, 03:42 AM PHPLive!Support is a nice, affordable tool. I don't really have problems recommending it. And have done so on several occasions.
It's just that this thread brought back some bad memories.
We're checking out Chattist right now though. But, may be switching back to PHPLive soon.
eyckzo 06-04-2003, 06:49 AM I've been with PHP Live! for over a year and a half now and I have NEVER had a problem with them. Ever.
I doubt they locked you out of your account for posting a question on their forums. And I have called them several times and never had a problem with them on the phone.
I would suggest that you email kyle@osicodes.com and he WILL be able to answer your questions. He's one of the owners and he's a real nice guy..

Why would you doubt what the man says? Do you think it is infeasible for dictator type practices to occur on forums and with these companies?
I was banned from the 2checkout forum for asking a question about SSL certificates. 2checkout are a GIZZILION times the size of PHPLIVE...yet they are really petty when they feel that someone has questioned their sacred product.....SO please...why do you disbelieve what the man has said. I personally have not had these problems with PHPLIVE but I have witnessed a curt attitude on their forums.
Simon
UH-Matt 06-04-2003, 08:43 AM If they locked you out after 3 months, why have you waited 1 year before complaining?

Just because it hasn't happened to you; don't believe it can't happen. Because it does.
If I didn't have so many posts to look through, I'd dig up my threads about my problems with them.
SH-Lloyd 06-04-2003, 10:15 AM Thats kinda scary :(

I downloaded the demo version of Chattist while the WHT special was going on, and I never did get the Windows software to work. It says "Unable to connect to the server" every time I try to log in. Also, the dialog to confirm closing the software is bad UI design.
I will agree that Chattist at $59 (WHT special) is a good deal, but only if it works... and it didn't work for me.I probably should have contacted their support team, but there are so many other pieces of live chat software on the market that I just moved on. I hope you've had better luck than I have.

Welcome Cori to WHT. Here you can eat or be eaten...it is just our way.
I had a problem with PHP live keep emailing me...thousands of times actually during an evening when there was a problem with my database. I asked a question on your forum about a fix for this and was made to look a bit stupid. I asked again and got a rather cryptic answer. Then I asked again ( I am a stubourrn bugger) and finaly I got a response that was understandable.
I then had an issue with the program not being able to work on a page with a security cert. (I know this is OK now) but to be honest...you made me feel like a complete twat! sorry for the rude word. Just how I felt.
Anyway...hats off to you for coming on over...I hope you can show the same attitude on your own forums.
Simon
pretty sad people have to take these type of measures to get something very simple resolved.
I have the same problem or something like it.
Two weeks ago I could login to my account with them(I signed up for having the software run on my server.....and paid for it). I contacted them by email ...and no reply at all.
Its strange my account is alitte more then a week from needing to be renewed....I then got a letter saying my account is about to expire or has already. At this time I'm still unable to access my account online through their site so I email them again getting no answer I go to their web site open a chat session with one of their customer service or support people. After talking to them and they couldn't access my account either ....they said they would put in a trouble call to the Admins.
After another week goes by I'm then able to access my account but only to renew my account no reply from them on why I was locked out. After renewing my account on June 4, 2003 one year from when I first opened my account with them...I thought I had access again.
I now find out I can't access my admin page.....thinking its a software problem with my mysql for it and I can't find my copy of the software to reinstall it. I go to their web site and into my account and I can't download it......I then email their info address and they inform that my account is not active as download solution but as a hosted solution.....which is paid for monthly and I would have have my account changed through processing.
I emailed them two days ago and no reply as of yet.....I paid a yearly fee not for monthly accesss as I informed them. I never had any problems with them until just over two weeks ago.
I do think two weeks is really really long time to clear up an account problem...I have a business to run as small as it may be but still its a business....and I have paid good money for nothing.
Someone posted kyle as the person to email to clear things up like this ...I just have.....I'm hoping he does......but if its not done by the weekend I must move on.
I would have recommended this guys for really good live help software but now.....I can't.......
Cori OSI 06-12-2003, 11:15 AM Hi Andrew,
As stated, we are working on finding a solution to your problem. I won't discuss any issues with your account here, but I do thank you for sharing info with the community here. Hopefully you got my email and I just forwarded you Kyle's email as well.
Rest assured someone is working on the problem, and your business being small isn't affecting our response at all. :) Small businesses are the best ones.
Please keep in contact with me regarding this and we will do what we can to help.
I thank you for the reply ....I'm in no way blame you or Leslie as from what you have said you can only do so much to help.
Maybe both you and Leslie need to be promoted or given more ability to help others.
Pro-Technic 06-13-2003, 03:40 PM hmm I had a chat with Leslie a few days ago because I was interested in phplive. He helped me great and was very polite.
I'm still looking at the different live support options, but till now Leslie gave me the best support, so I may go with them.
