View Full Version : From Alabanza to cpanel - scripts?

Does anyone have, or know of, any scripts that will take accounts from Alabanza servers and move them to cpanel server?

Moving the account itself is not a problem, but the databases, email settings, etc. proves to be a tad more difficult.

If anyone has experience in moving over 1000 sites, please post some help here, or email me directly.

Thanks.

Well you should be able to do the databases with mysqldump.

Absolutely, but the problem is that there are quite a few and I was hoping that there was a pre-written script out there, or if anyone wanted to develop one for this task.

One of the biggest problem I see is in the email settings. The passwords for the accounts need to be moved over as well as the accounts themselves.

Might want to talk to the folks at Ventures Online... I think they have something. At least, DanielP had something back when I moved over.

Has anyone located such a script yet.
I want to move some clients from my Alabanza servers to cpanel as well. If it helps (or not) any, I have a server at Burst and one elsewhere, both with Cpanel.

An automated solution (or semi-automated) would really be nice.

Maybe even simple instructions so I can move the mailboxes and mail settings ?

I may even pay for a script if it is really reasonable...

Hi WeinBar,
When we moved from alabana we found it best (with the completely different email programs) that we had the customers just go in and set up their emails one we gave them the new control panel address.

You may have some luck with Daniels script, I heard he has a good one for moving the customers now, but he was still writing the first version of it when we moved.

Find a post from DanielP and PM him.

Good luck with your move - It is a pain in the kiester, but well worth it once you break out of the alabanza extra fees for breathing too much.

I think Daniel's move script was from CP server to CP server, not from Alabanza to CP server.

He had both made... Because he had scripts that moved one of my Alabanza servers over, and then he assisted me in moving everything out of VDI after the whole Ultraspeed/Burst takeover.

I just received an email back from Daniel. He said the script never worked right.

Oh,, I know the story,, it was the wording that got me...
it was more of a sell out , than a take over... ;)

No biggie,, just the way you worded it... "takeover"

Have a good one.

Well,
I will just do it the old fashioned way then...
let the customer set up their mailboxes and I move their files.

Thank you everyone for your help as usual

HEY... Unless you run a search and replace, you will need to have the customers set their paths in their scripts also.
I forgot about that, but the path set up is different between the different servers.

And, explain to the customers after the move that their new upload loaction is to public_html , not www

We had over 1000 sites when we made the move. It wasn't bad for too long. Just have to get used to the differences,, thats all.

Why not make a link?

We did sym link them, but still tell the customers to use the public_html directory to upload to. Then, if we have to move them to a different server because they start getting busy, or server prob,,, they already know where to upload to.

Also, we have had the problem of people deleting the www directory because they "didn't use it" and "it was just a copy of their site" .... hmmm you know what happens....
POOF..

Hey support,,, where the H*ll did my site go???

LOL

Happens believe it or not...
