Has anyone else noticed that the phpbb.com site is over its bandwidth limit? :(
Anyone heard anything about it?
Hopefully it's a monthly limit and they'll be back soon.

While I'm at it, and thoughts on phpBB in general? I've been playing around with it a bit lately and am thinking about using it on one of my sites.

That's a good sign, which means phpbb is getting more and more popular.

phpbb is 2nd easiest bb to install, you just need to change the config.php attibute twice and that's it.

It seems the site is accessible via its IP.

Try http://157.238.45.133/

funny you should mention XMB, I know the guy who made it, I talk to him like all the time, he used to work on blazeboard,

I really loved the look of blazeboard tho it was kinda crappy with all the stuff...it was like a old car that was a classic look, but couldn't crank....

phpBB.com is hosted on Intrahost, they get 10 gigs a month from them. But their board is hosted on sourceforge, you can reach it at http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpBB/index.php

I love phpBB by the way.

I spent a long time awhile back looking at all the free forums. I have to say that after so many recommendation for PHPBB that I was really disappointed with it. I didn't find the admin user-friendly and the customization support seemed weak.

I did like XMB but it still seemed to need more tweaking.

I eventually bypassed PHP altogether and went with Ikonboard. So far I'm pretty happy. And the current Version 3 beta looks really good. I'm going to upgrade once the full version comes out.

I've also been keeping my eye on MegaTopic (www.megatopicbb.com).

Now, only if I would spend the time to, I could write my own forum software......

I did look at XMB and it looks sweet!! But, you can't complain about any of the free forums, cause they are free.

I was looking at that one myself last night - just clean look to it. I also took a look at YappBB. Lacking in a few things like polls and file attachment (some would say this is a good thing), but packed with other features not really seem on other boards. The demo on site is a little odd to look at but I was browsing a tweaked version (couldn't find the link, but it's devoted to Mini's), which looks very nice indeed.

Quite a few very good forums coming up at the moment, nothing to peg VB yet though. Of course that'd be a tough call in anyone's books I think...

UBB doesn't get much of a menion anymore do they.. :)

Hello,

I'm one of the admins at hacks.phpbb.com. The above comment is correct that the bandwidth at intranet is donated. theFinn (the project manager) and Intrahost agreed on that bandwidth level and it's been exceeded :-(

We're in the process of moving hacks to sourceforge. That will free up the bandwidth for the main phpbb.com site. We are planning on having the new hacks site up on Monday July 1st.

If you have any phpBB questions, feel free to contact me.
