I am considering buying a dedicated server for a new project I am working on. It should be big. But, I can spend no more than $200 on the first month. I need atleast:
8 gb HD
100-200 gb bandwidth.
Linux/Unix OS (not sure.. whatever hypermart is - i think redhat)

I will be hosting other domains (maybe 10-20 eventually) and need subdomains also. I don't know about the rest. Should I just get a line (256 kbps)? How good is a line? Where is a good place for one. Please contact me if you can help in any way. I'm on a tight budget, but I think this could end up beign big. Thanks.

You'll have trouble getting what your looking for at $200.

If you get a line it should be a frame relay or leased line(Point-to-Point), which you'll get from your telco. But it'll cost a heck of a lot more than $200, of course it depends on your contract and your isp. And the hardware and line install will be around $3000.

It sounds like you need to start as a reseller until you can afford getting your own server. There are many companies that can help you with this. Just avoid long commitments so that you have the freedom to switch over as soon as you are ready to do so. That much bandwidth is going to be a real problem though for $200 per month, do you really need that much?

Thanks a lot guys. What would you suggest as a good reseller company to use and then switch over? ( I would need an account with a lot of bandwidth and maybe nameservers) Thanks!
