Lucky Hostany added a new router and additional transits so they're still online even when their old transit is down, kisses them! :o)

btw, i love my clan site! http://www.teamichor.com :)

Has anyone called Unitedcolo and recieved an explanation?

Sadly, UnitedColo is one of those that will just not get the problem fixed until they feel like getting it fixed. Try calling all you like, but they'll just act unprofessional, rude, and hang up on you when you demand the service you pay for (oh wait, you're paying for cheap service!).

In SOME respects, UCG is just about as bad as BurstNet, with their up-down-up-down-up-down routines. I seem to remember just around the first of the year an entire DAY downtime simply because UCG staff couldn't figure out what the problem was. Well, since it's Saturday AM, I (seriously) don't look to them to be back until Monday afternoon. I've had too many dealings through clients with UCG to expect any better. Thankfully all those clients have smartened up and moved on to better Datacenters.

It's not unitedcolo's problem. I've call Unitedcolo's upstream and they are having problems.

If they're a multihomed/fail-over network, they shouldn't have this problem, this is not the first time they're down and they never add/change provider, that is UnitedColo's problem, correct?

right when it happened my traces were going from williams into yipes.... it did not look like a UCG problem.

Ucg has been pretty good the past 60 days or so.

It is a bargin bin provider.... last i checked they had HE and williams BW so I dont know, but I do know IM losing more damn money than a whole month of hosting there costs :P

first of all, UCG should have more than one provider.

second, who did you call? who did you talk to? what specifically did they say? what does "having problems" mean? what is the ETA on fixing them?

The network is failover. The problem is with the core routers. It's not unitedcolo's problem though.

UnitedColo gets thier bandwidth from Wworks. Wworks goes to Hurricane's , MFNs, and PAIX. For some reason...HE stopped routing/anouncing into Wworks...

So yeah..it stands there at that point or there is a tech/hardware issue. ONE OF THE 2!

Anyone have an eta? I have 15 servers down.

Mfjp

It's a tech hardware issue. They say it would come back up in 30 minutes. They have links to MFN, also I seen some links to equinix. Even if they lost HE.net, they should be fine.

How's that a failover network when they don't failover? :)

That is correct seems as though WWorks routes have dissapeared and nobody is announcing them right now. Also edge-host.com is fine, was down probably for a little bit as the BGP kicked in.

Now if UC had all the routes through another provider they would not be down. So there goes the redundency.

HaHaHa. Hurricane Electric said they've recieved about 50 calls on the issue and its not thier issue. But if you'd like u can email noc@he.net and they'll reply on it.

WWorks is back on! We are receiving the BGP session now.

I do not know. I'm a customer of their directly. There is 2 core routers in the setup, they are suppose to be failover. but i'm no cisco expert, i do not know how it works. Their operation is for sure going to be better than a 1 router BGP setup of hostany.

HostAny..i've been hearing alot about them recently? who are they exactly? Popular? They are @ exchange as well. Got a 12008 and a 6509 running.

Hostany uses 2 routers too now? I know they connect to nlayer and wworks. Maybe he could come here and explain his network too.

Are unitedcolo's colocated servers as up and down as their dedicated servers? (I heard they're on different networks)
