I want Akopia Interchange and I was told that it couldn't be installed on the shared servers at my host Pair.com, so now I am looking for a new host where Akopia can be installed and is not against their policies.

Any suggestions?

Best regards

The chances of it running correctly are slim, but for a real fan of that script spawn of satan, it could provide an interesting, but time consuming, diversion or hobby.

Good Luck..

:D

Yeah, superman is right, all hosts with Cpanel offer the Akopia cart, however, it is very buggy and practically a mess. I guarantee you that most hosts hate it. ;)

Yep.. a lot better and free too.
We go remove akopia from the control panel and offer the exchange project at request.

So you guys basically says that it's not up running in a acceptable way anywhere?
The exchange project is on my 2nd spot but Akopia would be so perfect for me.
I have great SE rankings for my sites and I do not believe I can keep that with dynamic pages. Akopia can create all your pages static.
This is a real pain. I have spend two weeks finding the right cart, and the right cart dont work

It works just fine on our servers. Please Note: I am not trying to advertise ourselves. Moderators: Please delete if violating the rules.

As I said before, it works fine on our servers and on many other hosts' servers, the thing is that it is buggy and sometimes eats up a lot of memory, but other than that it is not that bad. :)

<<MOD NOTE:>>
Don't worry Bert, you can say it runs fine on your servers. Just not, "Hey we can give you that for..." :D

AS ksstudio say before all the host with CP have Akopia Intercharge, but.. At least I think that is not recommendable for an intensive use.

To install akopia root access is a must. For one, it installs a interchange start/stop script in the /etc/rc.d/init.d . Also the interchange server runs in the background all the time. You can't do this kind of thing on a shared server without the root access.

Akopia is basically meant to be a server wide program, where virtual users can access instances of it. I also agree it is buggy and crashes often. I have not seen one cpanel user who uses this shopping cart seriously.

Akopia is hands down the best shopping cart solution out there - when it runs, and it's not it's fault, we had it running perfect when we were with Alabanza but Akopia really really hates CPanel for some reason.
