Just sitting at my desk in the big T.O listening to all the radio stations laugh at the matchup between Anaheim and Minnesota. I just thought I would voice a couple opinions on this since I am a little mad at the moment :D

I honestly couldn't be happier for both of the clubs... especially the Wild. These fans lost their team once and tried everything in their power to keep the North Stars in Minnesota, but to no ones surprise the business side of hockey prevailed. Now they have a new franchise and that arena is one of the loudest I've heard in years. Fans are screaming and going crazy over there team!

The thing that is driving me nuts is the fact that I'm a die hard Leafs fan, never have and will likely never see them win the cup, and the fans of Toronto SUCK. And then all I hear is everyone laughing at the Playoffs.

I guess to sum the entire post up, I am just mad at the fact that you turn on a Leafs game and all you see are the suits of fans (rich bastards) and you don't even hear a cheer.

I hope this made a little sense, I know I get worked up over hockey, but I can't handle how some people think and act.

I'm a Canucks fan, wasn't too happy after the game last night though :( The crowd silently left the building hanging their heads. You never know, Toronto might kick some serious arse one day ;)

Ahhhh, well I'm from Minnesota and buying tickets and going to games was never a problem in MN! This has always been a Hockey town and the Wild have done very well even before this great year. The NORTH Stars left because their owner Norm Green was a greedy SOB. He wanted to move the team to a warmer climate and a city that give him more money which is what Dallas did. Eventually Dallas got sick of Norm Green's crap and he was ousted as owner. So Minnesota has always supported their hockey teams they were moved because of Norm Greed not due to lack of fan support! People were devestated and shocked when they left especially loosing our hockey team to Dallas, please!

That said they can laugh all they want about Anaheim and the Wild they are moving on to the next level the favorites are not!

GO WILD!

Absolutely it's always been a hockey town... but that doesn't change what the attendance figures used to be for the North Stars. One thing I remember clearly is that for the season opener in 1991, the year they went to the finals, attendance was right around 5700. That game wasn't an exception by any means. Of course late that season they were selling, while they were winning, but the fact is that the North Stars for years were at or near the bottom of the NHL attendance list.

Part of it might have been that there's always been so much hockey available... from high school teams and the always well-attended high school playoffs, to the Golden Gophers in the NCAA.

In any event, things are certainly different today with the Wild enjoying all kinds of fan support.

Fans suck in Toronto. They are all bandwagoners...it sucks...not to mention the media BS here...next year doesn't look good, Svehla gone rumors of dryden being fired and sundin being traded...only bright side is we might get hatcher.
