I'm not sure how we're supposed to know what you can offer if *you* don't know??? You *could* offer shared SSL, or individual certs. This is pretty vague... Jaiem 06-29-2001, 01:14 PM How about looking up 10-12 of your competitors and seeing what kind of packages they offer. toma1708 06-30-2001, 06:19 AM If you have some space free and you can afford a 45-60 days free trial perhaps we can start a cooperation. I am interested by small accounts (10 M+5 POP and 20M&10 POP) with max 1 G traffic, but I would like to know more about your offer. Please send me a URL KDAWebServices 06-30-2001, 06:47 AM I hate to be blunt, but I'm going to have to be so don't take offence. What on earth are you doing getting in to this business when you obviously haven't got a clue? I know everybody has to start somewhere, but when you don't know what comes with your server it is a poor show. wbhst 06-30-2001, 02:49 PM It's okay.. NO offense taken... I know a whole lot about webhosting solutions, and have built them from the ground up before. I know exactly what to do... I was just looking for some advice on how much to offer at what prices etc... That's perfectly okay.. wbhst Chicken 06-30-2001, 03:27 PM Really I think you just have to come up with a basic model of how much of what you want to offer for how much. Make it high enough so you can have a special (if that's what you think you might want to do), and so you can afford to pay your expenses and yourself. What you offer depends heavily on the market you are going to target. Local businesses would pay more for less than members of this forum (as one example). wbhst 06-30-2001, 03:39 PM Thank you... Your post was highly helpful... Wbhst KDAWebServices 06-30-2001, 04:20 PM Another tip, if you're going to have resellers, then make sure the price you sell to them at will cover your costs, then base your end user prices off of the ones you charge resellers. inet7 06-30-2001, 11:26 PM Start by laying out an expense budget: NOC Expenses: -Bandwidth; -Rack Space; -Hardware; -Software. Operating Expenses: -Office lease; -Communications (phone system, long distance, cell phones, pagers etc.) -Billing & Accounting sofware; -office PC's -Internet Connectivity (if office not in NOC) -Payroll -Insurance Marketing Expenses: -web site development -Internet Advertising; -Conventional Advertising (print); -Specials or Discounts; Once you figure how much it will cost you to say...manage 1 server with x number of customers, you'll be able to determine the cost to you per customer. From there, price your packages so you cover all items in your budget (if you want to break even) |
