This is more of a rant than any info which is why I didn't add it on to the one in the general hosting forum. But I wish more hosts would at least post up something to get their clients to patch up formmail. One of the customers I was helping out got mailbombed from some creep using another hosting company's formmail setup somewhere. Not only that but the mean arses posed as him to spam his site and get people ticked off at the guy. Do people not realize that spammers don't tend to give their real contact information out? That was another flood of the messages.
Anyway, contacted the place in question about it and got this reply:
"We run multiple formmail scripts on multiple servers and have no way of determining the script in question from your report."
Now I know taking time with scripts is a pain, but when the script is being used to spam you NEED to take precautions. There was no "however we're going to fix up the scripts so we aren't some kid's plaything again" or "we'll be sure to warn people", just some stubborn way of saying "unless you can point out which script, we'll let them all massmail the world and not give a damn."
Ok.... frustration somewhat gone. I think I'm going to go watch Mystery Men and see if I can get redder in the face than Ben Stiller.
