To be honest, right now no one is getting into CPM, acually there really are not that many. If you do, you will be lucky to get 50 cents CPM. Try cj.com, not cpm but a very good alternative.

Very few of the networks are accepting new sites right now and the ones that do are not performing very well. I got into FocusIN recently (mixed CPC/CPM) and it's doing about $.05 effective CPM.

I'd agree with the recommendation to go with CJ affiliate programs. Just pick a couple of hardware sellers and put "Buy it here" links on your reviews and such. I wouldn't bother with banners at all, just use text links.

40,000 impression a month ?.. I'd try to sell your ad space to doubleclick or enrage.

40,000 impresions per onth isnt alot.... doubleclick / flycast / 24/7 media all require aprox 100,000 or above

You think that's a lot? DoubleClick won't even look at you until you have 1 million a month. Engage will go as small as 100,000 I think but I doubt they're taking any new sites. At least they weren't in my content area.

At any rate Double Click seems to be paying around $1.10 right now so even if they took a site that small you'be be looking at $45 a month. Engage I'd guess is around $.20 so $8 a month. Burst may actually go that small but they're paying somewhere around the $.25 mark or $10 a month. Their minimum check size is $30 (lower than most) so you'd only get paid every third month.

With some well picked affiliate programs you can probably do better. Of course that raises all new issues. Like if all your revenue comes from people buying stuff hardware you recommend will you only post positive reviews of things.

I have used FocusIN for several months and as each month goes by they are taking longer and longer to mail my checks. Their website says they mailed my last check on Jun 10, 2001 and I have yet to get it. Also thier rates have dropped dramatically as well. I went from $1.075 per 1000 impressions on my first month to $0.220 per 1000 impressions this month and my site averages 1,000,000 pageviews a month.

Best bet now since the downfall of advertising is to find a company willing to advertise on your site that is related to your site. Thats what I have done and to be honest I make on average $300 more per month.

Good luck...

You can try some hybrid networks that offer both CPM and CPC ads like fastclick.com and tribalfusion.com
