I've been a reseller for awhile but have yet to find the perfect dns report. If I check out my domains under my reseller plan and my named server I always get errors.
Does any one know of a reseller plan that I can get that will return a perfect dnsreport.com?
If so and they have a nice package w/ plenty of post on there forum. I would be an interested customer.
Please if you deleate post on your forum and belive all problems
should go through your help desk then don't bother to post. I feel
that host who do this have something to hide...

you do know you can edit the dns zone yourself and get it near perfect. Perfect if you change your mail server to the server's mailserver, but then you'll have a "trace" to your provider....
and to be honest, the things they tell you are merely suggestions and certainly don't say much about the reseller account's quality.
I dont think a reseller plan user would be able to change the zone files through the WHM that would effect the way dns report results. It must be done by the admin/root .
I totally agree with you on other counts though. The stuff suggested there are marely suggestions as to how things could be changed.

With all the different errors that I have had. The one that is most important to me is reverse dns. I have been told by certain hosting companys not to worrie about all those results. That sure makes me mad. Thats the first sign that the host doesn't know what there doing.
(Those are the guide lines corect me if im wrong? RFC1912 2.1 says you should have a reverse DNS for all your mail servers.)
I just want my domains to be set up the right way. My business
hasn't grown enough to go ded. So I still need reseller packages untill im ready.
I have both cpanel and h-sphere at this time. Cpanel is alot easyer to use than h-sphere, lets face it h/s is a pain in the arse.
if only there was a better way.

To be fair H-sphere gives alot cleaner dnsreport with no red fails at all and 5 yellow warnings.
im using cpanel, and only have 4 yellow warning's.
1.Nameservers on separate class C's
2.Multiple MX records
3.Mail server host name in greeting
4.Acceptance of domain literals
In most cases it's not up to the host to implement reverse dns. I believe it has to be enabled by the host NOC/DC on there routers. I know when i had it enabled, it only took "theplanet" about an hour to make the entry completely available.

Ask your cpanel host to enable DNSzone editing on your reseller account and you can adjust the settings yourself.
Then ask him to reverse DNS your name servers he can have the data center do it for him in about an hour.
But as someone else said the dnsreport is just a suggestion on the yellows. I did manually edit a dnszone one time to get a perfect dnsreport from dnsreport.com then I went to http://www.ipplus.com/tools/dns_check_set.en.html ran the same URL and it failed 8 test.
So which one is right they both claim to use the standard spec as their measuring stick.

Actually reverse dns is something the company would have to setup for you. Reverse dns for their main mailserver IP is very important. If you don't do that, then mail could get lost.
