What software do you guys use to scan for viruses on the server side? I'm currently using CPPOP with Cpanel as my pop server and I'd like to know your thoughts on implementing a mail server side filter program with this?

I think the idea of putting an anti virus software on a mail server is good. .. for an office or home who's running their own mail server. I don't think is a good idea to use it as part of your service to your customer because if anything happen, they can blame your company because of it. Added to that, it takes a lot of memory and cpu resources to do the scanning. Multiply that by the number of emails your server receive an hour. I think it's a bad idea to offer that as one of your service. Let them install an anti virus on their computer. It's their responsibility to keep their computer virus free .. not us the provider. Anyone disagree ?.. hehe.. :) |
