I downloaded one i like but can't figure how to use it and edit it. petertdavis 05-05-2003, 07:13 PM Any time I have bought a template, and it's supposedly sliced and coded, I've had to go in and comletely recode it in order for it to have the functionality that I need. Either you will be getting yourself a lesson in HTML to do this, or you'll be hiring someone to do it for you. SHT 05-06-2003, 02:51 AM - Get a program like Paint Shop Pro. - Install the fonts supplied to you with the template to your fonts directory. - Open the images via PSP and start customizing them according to your links, logo etc. - You might have to do some html tweaking to make it look like exactly how you want it so download an html editor. - Change all the links, add your title and metatags as well as your content. Good luck, Jeremy PhilJ 05-07-2003, 10:37 AM The best program you can get to edit templates is Photoshop. Although it is pricey it is worth every penny. Templates are generally sold in PSD files wich ar constucted of individual layers for every image and object, allowing you to edit the template to suit your needs (change links, logo, etc..) after you are satisfied with the template, you can use the slicing tool to make image slices for links and content. The last step would be to use "Save for Web" in the file drop-down menu (This generates HTML with the slices you make). After all this, open the HTML in your favorite editor and add content, links, etc... Hope this helps! |
