Thanks everyone. I finished by ordering from Dell.ca . The neat thing is that when I called they throw in some discounts, and extras, so I am getting really nice package for 2k canadian.

You priced out a Dell Precision which is why it costs so much. Look at a Dell Demension instead.

Nothing wrond with the old system. It is staying what is now, development server, it will just will not be used as workstation any more.

I went with Dell Demension 8300. The reason I was looking at Precision is that you do not have to buy windows if you go with it, and with Dimension you are forced to give money to MS even if you do not use windows.
Anyway this is the configuration:
http://tnt.goldnet.ca/argh/config1.html , and I should not have problems running linux there. The price ($2000CDN) is very reasonable, and because they do bussiness leese thing, I can write off all thing as operating expense.
