Billy 06-27-2001, 03:35 PM Well, there was this one company that gave you UNLIMITED EVERYTHING for only 20$ a year...it was such a great deal but somethign happened.
LOL j/k
But that is a pretty good price for 12 gigs...but i dont see who could run 12 gigs a month with only 30 megs of diskspace.
NetRemedy 06-27-2001, 03:55 PM Try F5 themselves ...

i want you to beat aletia corp's special plan :emlaugh:
ebird 06-27-2001, 06:05 PM For a site with 25MB, I think there are two ways to use 12GB. first, warez and/or porn, 2nd, download site or extremely pupolar site.
If a site doesn't fall into the above categories, there are a lot of offers better than that based on the fact that you will not consume 12GB per month.
tera-byte.com
aletiahosting.com
below10host.com
weinbar.com
...

but there isn't going to be any warez or porn or downloads
this is just a hypothetical question..right? :emlaugh:
Jedito 06-27-2001, 06:08 PM HD are cheap :)
the expensive thing is banwidth.
200 MB and 20 GB 4 $22.95/mo if you pay yearly
ckizer 06-27-2001, 06:09 PM Let me explain how unlimited REALLY works. You get:
unlimited bandwidth
unlimited disk space
unlimited email/ftp
unlimited database access.
and then they GET UNLIMITED ACESS TO YOUR WALLET.
What does that sound un-reasonable? Yes it does, so dont' expect ANY hosting company to actually give you unlimited ANYTHING, it's just a gimic to get you to signup.
f5hosting.com 06-27-2001, 06:09 PM All of you guys are commenting on who can beat who...we arent out to "beat" anyone with our plans. I think we offer a solid package base and with reasonable prices. You can get 15 dollar a year, or even a dollar a month hosting just about anywhere these days, but will these hosts provide the level of not only TECH support, but CUSTOMER support as well? I think our plans are competitive and I also think that our support, both customer and technical are exceptional (this is not to say that the other hosts here do not have great tech support...I am sure most do!)!
I think we take customer and technical support to a higher level...we do so at a personal level...one that makes people very comfortable with us and our services. This attention to personal detail with everyone of our customers is what keeps our customers with us, and what brings our new customers into the F5 Family. Without the personal attention and the willingness to do WHAT IT TAKES to make our customers happy, we wouldnt be here.
It is our customers that count.
HostOnce.com 06-28-2001, 07:56 AM HostOnce.com Beats it Hands Down.
Unlimited Bandwidth/Unlimited Web Space/Free Setup/Free Domain Name/ $4.95 per month
Kevin Teoh 06-28-2001, 10:31 AM Let me tell you something, I'm avoiding hosts that make offers such as this. Unlimited bandwidth DOES NOT EXIST. There will be a point when serious questions will arise about whether to cancel a person's account because of high bandwidth usage, even if he or she DOES NOT violate the AUP.

I have added HostOnce.com to my Worst Website of the Week. This company does not deserve to stay in business.
Ban them please.
HostOnce.com = Network Solutions ... Any Questions?
Eagle 06-29-2001, 09:40 PM Those listed @ http://www.f5hosting.com/plans.htm I can probably beat....
http://www.ewsnl.com/hosting/compare.html
gotta love seing those who badly oversell their resource :D I want to point our one thing, I think everyone doing this business for 1 reason, $$$, profit. Overselling is not a good practice, sure you get more sign ups, but what happen if your client uses their allocated resource to the max ? and start losing money ? are you going to suspend their account for whatever reason you may think of ?
And do you think Verio oversell their resources ? I think not :) To me, those who oversell are not thinking for a long run for their business. A good example of this is Nuke.to, I remember seing a package from nuke something like $99.95/year - 500MB, 20Gb. Well can someone beat that ? I am sure you can, everyone can if they want to. Then what happen to nuke.to ? they start giving less resource and higher prices (I've been monitoring their prices), and I guess things just not working out for them and nuke.to is no more. I think they lasted a couple of months, compared to verio for years and still going strong.
For those who are thinking big, overselling is a no no. For those who want to host for a year or two ? make profit then walk away ? overselling is the way to go :o
