View Full Version : Any new information on .eu's yet?
Bladerunner 05-04-2003, 09:31 PM | Well I'm still waiting on some .eu domains.
Apparently pre-registrations should have started at the back-end of last year or early 2003.
Latest information I have still indicates that things are not moving and still no sign of pre-registrations.
Has anybody got any kind of updated information on these, if we are likely to see them in 2003 or if we'll have to wait until 2004? |
phisholay 05-04-2003, 10:34 PM Do you need to be from EU to register an .eu? |
Bladerunner 05-05-2003, 07:13 AM | Well I think that was the idea, well at least having a presence in the EU.
These domain's just seem to be so behind - we don't even seem to have any official rules on these domain's yet. |
fashion 05-05-2003, 09:15 AM I registered a .eu for a customer the other day - you have to do it direct via internic uk as far as i know... the cost is £116.33 for 2 years - bit ott i thought!!

Bladerunner 05-06-2003, 08:36 AM Is that refundable?
I do know that there is no official pre-registration open for .eu domains yet - so by going to the link above there is no guarantee that you'll actually get the domain.
Over at www.123-reg.co.uk you can pre-register .eu domain's too.
However things are very different there.
You pay £30 now for your pre-registration.
If you are lucky enough to get the domain then great.
If you aren't then you get the £30 refunded in full.
Also 123-reg only take one pre-registration for any domain, so even though you might be competing with others across the world, 123-reg only put one name forward themselves.
There should be some kind of "grace" period first to allow companies to get trade marks registered, don't even think we've had that phase yet - this is taking far too long! |
