On a webhosting site if the prices were in $ and in £ next to each other would this put off people outside the UK do you think?

well, it depends on which markets you wish to target.

if not to much problem make two listings one for us dollar and the other for Pounds (it is a pound they did not change to euro man suddenly feeling stupid)
anyway offer both
or put one in Parens that you wish not to target as much

PACKAGE A: £ 19.95 ($14.95)

I wouldn't use a host outside the US, not sure exactly why but I guess I just feel safer about it. I think if you're going to try and reach customers this way, perhaps it's best to run two different sites. For example, yourhost.com and yourhost.co.uk

Both markets we have the .com and .co.uk so do u think it would be better if they went to the site and it said

UK or US

then the us goes to .com with $ prices
then uk goes to .co.uk with £ prices?

Hey Gary,

I'm in the same situation you are with a .net and a .net.au, my .net site displays $US pricing and my .net.au site displays $AU pricing. I'd recommend you do the same although obviously with £ prices on your .co.uk site.

I was wondering if it would be possible to redirect somebody based upon their domain name?
ive seen sites do it before, like altavista, if you are in the uk then even if you type altavista.com it will automatically take you to .co.uk - is there something on the machine or is it your DNS/IP that is telling the site where you are?

maybe you could use this kind of technology if you knew how it worked?

Hi,

I did come up with a CGI script ages ago that would redirect a visitor based on their language preferences.

Obviously in this case though that's sorta defunct. I have been hearing murmurs of something at http://www.networldmap.com/

Where they've surveyed to work out the locations of a large number of IP's

You might want to go take a look.

excuse me...if i'm not understanding it wrong .... but why don't you create twoi links at the begining of the main site indicating 'uk customers click here and US customers click here'... you might would just need to create two sites for each on the same domain ..
