My site has about 40gigabyte transfer every month, mostly due to video-clips, a big picture gallery and a vB message board.

I don't need much more than 300mb space, and I need one mySQL database, php4/cgi support and at least one pop3 email address.

How cheap can I get it?

And oh, did I mention that I'm a very poor student and can barely afford the food I eat? So a Dedicated Server is sorta not a good idea for me. Right now it's beeing hosted (for free) on a 2x2mbit sdsl connection here in Norway which my friend runs.

Hmm...dont know of any hosts with plans that big...but most likely somewhere in the range of 50$ a month.Probably more but maybe less because of all these hosts "specials".

Just a thought..

Maybe you can give someone the banner space on top of your site and they will host the site in exchange of that!?

before you look into that, let the host know

how many unique visitors you get a day
and how many you get a month

I dont have access to the log files now, since my host kicked me off due to too much bandwith usage. But it was somewhere between 800->1800 unique hits per day.. visitors on the popular forum isnt counted..

I think you may ask for Jackie Chan's anency in Hong Kong. If you do it for free, they may want to pay for the hosting service charge.

But I believe there are a lot Japanese females fans have already done that. ;)

Yeah, I've been thinking about that.. but I doubt they'd know enough about the web to know what webhosting is. StarEastNet.com (who owns and runs the official JC site) isnt really too bright either..

You're hosting plan for 20£ doesn't seem to include a mySQL database or php support..

Please check the forum for babar's post. I think he denied that he is a donhost reseller when the evidence showed that he was or he is. And donhost doesn't have a good reputation.

Maybe I am wrong, but check it.

before you give up on the idea, try running the site as just the message board, without the video clips.

or just have a few clips, which are changed every few days.
