Hello
I'm stupid.
Can someone explain to me the differences between reselling and reffering etc?
I used to think you would be a re-seller if you took a hosting account and just added domains to that and hosted other people on that account?
refferal is just where you find someone who wants hosting and pass them onto another host ?
so whats a re-seller who buys an account with a host then buys lots more accounts of the same account from the same host and sells them to other people?
am I right ? or wrong?
are you a re-seller if you just buy lots of the same accounts? and a reseller if you sell within the same account?
thanks

You are totally correct, so you are not stupid.

Common definition of Resellers and Referrers
Hosting Reseller: Someone who purchases hosting accts from a hosting company at a discounted prices and "resells" them to the public, normally under their own company name. The majority of resellers must provide their own support for the accts they sell. This is not taking one acct and dividing it up but purchasing several accts and reselling them.
Hosting (or other) Referrer: Someone who "refers" a customer to a hosting company. The hosting company provides the hosting services and support and the "referrer" usually gets a small payment for sending business their way.
Reselling and referring is a standard part of many kinds of business including department stores and other retail outlets. They buy the product at a discounted (wholesale) price and resell it to the public for a profit.
Car dealerships are an excellent example of a reseller as they do not make the product themselves but resell from a manufacturer and provide support at their own site.
In the hosting business, many well known companies started out as resellers and built their business up to the point of being able to purchase their own equipment and in turn ususally offers reseller accts of their own.
