Hi all

I need to find a web host for a friend which has disk space of around 300mb but will do data transfer of about 6-7 GB a DAY. I do not know of any current services like this but if anyone knows, and the server should be reliable and have php enabled, then PLEASE let me know ASAP.

What kind of website is it and how much are you looking to pay?

That's around 200GB a month. I don't know of any virtual plans that include even close to that much bandwidth. I think he'll need to look @ dedicated hosting.

Wow. Good luck finding that on a shared server. I think your best bet is to get a dedicated server on a fast connection.

Also, on a side note, I would look at mod_gzip to possibly reduce that transfer amount.

They will look good until they cancel your account for using too much bandwidth. There is no such thing as "unlimited transfer". Look around on this site.

im not even going to bother continuing to dis ***** a simple search on this board will overwhelm any browser without me adding to it !! :D

and as far as that amount of bandwidth goes, go dedicated, no shared server would allow you to transfer that amount of data per day, hell, nearly all shared servers expect that quantity in a MONTH

Cyrus,

On what price range are you looking for? You can get a dedicated server form www.efreeservers.com with 200 GB of bandwidth for $300/month. I don't have any experience with them so I don't know how good they are, but their price is pretty cheap ($1.50/GB).

I don't know if you and/or your friend have experience administrating a server? If you do not, then you might want to look into a RaQ3 or RaQ4 server which is a lot easier to administrate.

I haven't seen too many places that offer high BW on dedicated's except for www.rackshack.net, and they offer 150BW. You might contact some of the one's you like and see if they can make special bandwidth arraingments for you at a reasonable cost per gig.
