I lost a domain a while back because DomainsNext.Com doesn't let a person transfer their domain if it is transferred in less than 30 days. It was a non-essential domain made up of an imaginary word, so I'm not really worried about it being released, I'll just rebuy it. But it was a valuable lesson, and so I immediately transferred my essential domains (my main website, and my nameserver) to Dotster.Com where I house my other nameserver, and my other domains. Dotster says to give them 2 weeks.

I submitted my domain: Apr-14-2003 19:31:40, and my 2 domains are still sitting in REGREQSUCCESS status (along with my other domain that was refused by DomainsNext.Com. Both companies are not very responsive >_<

Is this normal? I don't have any experience transferring domains, so I'm not sure if I'm being hyper-paranoid or anything. Does it usually take longer a month before a domain transfers?

any advice would be great!

I recommend that you try a transfer no later than two months before the expiration date. It's just safer that way. Technically, you "should" be able to do it anytime, but it doesn't always work out that way as your experience shows.

I believe there is a dotster representative who monitors this forum, maybe someone remembers his username so you can pm him.

Thanks for the reply, if someone knows the rep's name, please let me know!

I've got over two months to get my domains transferred before they expire, so hopefully this will all work itself out.

Trying searching for dotster in this forum, his name will probably popup somewhere.

Thanks. I might just do that. Although right now I actually just want to find another registrar away from both domains next and dotster who takes JCB. I'm beginning to think it wasn't worth the trouble of transferring my domains to dotster anyway

Any suggestions?

I have 31 domains with GoDaddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com) and no complaints as of yet.

I used GoDaddy before when I lived in the states and they were okay, but they don't take Japanese credit/debit cards (JCB).
