I decided to take the plunge and get a merchant account with charge.com. I filled out the application and sent it in on June 18th.

I called them yesterday and the representative said the app had been received and forwarded to processing on the 20th. She showed that the application had been approved, and she provided me with my new merchant account number.

She said that I should be receiving an e-mail providing all the details of my new merchant account, how to access the virtual terminal and use secure pages and account features. She said I should get it yesterday.

Well it never came yesterday. I sent them an e-mail last night and asked them if there was a problem, and if they could please send the info that the rep assured was coming.

I heard nothing today. No response to my e-mail, nor any e-mails about the application/next step. I tried calling but they have bankers hours (doh!) 9-5 eastern. bah.

Any current charge.com merchants...

~ how long did it take for you to get your welcome e-mail?

~ Also, does it appear that it's a "blanket" e-mail with links for your account, and if so, could you please forward the e-mail to me MINUS YOUR ACCOUNT INFO :) :) :) please substitute ACCOUNTNUMBERHERE for the merchant account #, then maybe I can try substituting my # in there and see if my dirs are set up and/or if I can gain access to my stuff! :D

I desperately need to do my billing and the lady said I should have heard from them already, so ??? any help much appreciated.

My e-mail is: chargecom@door-county.net

:) Bless ya'

In general at that step, the information you have provided has been approved 'as complete' - meaning what they asked you to send them is all there, and all current as they see it.

The next step is usually where that information is passed onto their own banks, and underwriters for approval. This is a different thing entirely (no matter the spin they put on it). I was told through Planet Payment it could be up to a month for that to be checked out (turned out to be less than 48 hours actually). Of course I also sent them what they asked for, plus some MORE information just to hedge my bets (you can never send too much information to have your identity proved IMHO)

I did notice a lack of cummunication at this point myself but it doesn't mean anything is wrong - some people's info may just take longer to verify.

I sent you one, but I don't know if it will help -- it doesn't include an account number, it has a login ID and password. If you can't get that from them over the phone, you probably can't log in anyway.

But... good luck!

Looked again, and sent something else that might help.

When I mailed out my application and it took about 1 1/2 weeks to have everything setup. Since I'm in california and I believe it takes about 3-4 days to arrive in the east coast. So more or less, about 5 days for actual setup.

acetate> you're right on the money...

As I explained I had called on Monday, was told the e-mail would come, it never did... so I e-mailed them Monday night and inquired if there was a problem.

Three days later, Thursday, they called me by telephone, in response to my e-mail, and left a msg on my answering machine that the welcome e-mail would arrive by 5:30 p.m. Sure 'nuf, it came late that afternoon.

The interface is just ducky, works like a champ. :) Now I have to get all my stuff transferred to them... the combination of the real-time gateway usable thru shopping carts, and the Virtual Terminal where I can enter customer card info, is SUPER. Meets all my needs. :)

Definite thumbs-up. Support, BTW, has been very helpful and courteous when I did connect with them. Just wish I had had a better idea of the timeframe, I was wigging out. :p

Thanks to those who PM'd and e-mailed me, I really appreciated the feedback. :) :) :)

I seem to recall getting papers from leasecomm when I asked about charge.com's programs quite a bit ago. Never thought much about it. A search on google for 'leasecomm' does bring up some rather disturbing stories, and I feel for those people, though you should never sign anything without having someone look at it if you aren't certain as to what everything means. Seems many of these people didn't do that, and rushed into something either without thinking (sales pressure), or were duped by the agent(s) involved. Yikes!

What kind of info did you use. My company set up an acct with them, and they were wonderfull to work with.

They use the services of Nova processing and Regions bank and have it set up to sweep the balances into your own bank acct.
