I was looking for a good host, I came across hostyard.com , but their problems seem to be too much, as you can see in their boards.
Well I am left down to this host, has anyone tried them? At least I can see they aren't a DONHOST reseller.

i've heard they were good, but i never tried them
They seem ok to me but they are VERY new. It looks like their company was created just over 1 year ago.

He has been open in free hosting for a few years...and any free host that stays open that long will most likely succede in paid hosting.I remember him saying that somewhere a while ago.
worldzone prices are very good but there are several problems with the cpanel and related outages - also the worldzone.net shows they are unable to send mail to aol users which means if you are having services which needs to send mail you have to put up a notice not to use aol mail which will make people rather suspicious of your site.

I think he is (or was) a fairly regular poster at www.freewebspace.net
so you might want to check there.

Have you been hanging out in their forum (http://worldzonesupport.com/ikonboard.cgi?bypass=true)? I was considering using them for a small project awhile back, but never did.

worldzone has a lot of problems
1) bandwidth - sites get shut down without any prior
notification if you cross the bandwidth so that a
friend had to leave them and look for another host.
also it is not sure whether the bandwidth is used what
is paid for - because it is at sole dicretion of a 3rd
party over which wz has no control or delayed/indirect
control
2) it is true what - send mail function
wont send mail to aol
3) downtimes are small but frequent
pros : very good support forum
however if you are looking for bandwidth at cheaper
price you may consider tera-byte.com ( 20 GB at $9)
or site5.com - this 2 seem to be the hosts of choice
of this forum or may be westhost.com - they offer
unlimited bandwidth in a sense they wont ever shut
down your html or gifs but other files if they cross 6 GB

We are working on some of the issues. The problem with sites automatically getting shut down is caused by the CPanel. The builders of it failed to realize this isnt always the best way to do it. They could have made it to shutdown downloads instead of the entire site. This would allow the actual site to remain active. CPanel also continually reports wrong diskspace and bandwidth. I dont see VDI getting up and doing anything about it either.....the problems with it remain the same. Perhaps Bill would care to comment as to why??
We have been trying to deal with AOL about the mail problem. They continually say we are not blocked when we know we are. As I understand it, the attorney's are drawing up a legal letter to be sent certified to AOL about it. Whether AOL listens or not is another issue.
The recent downtime was due to a user's "search" script using 99+% CPU. Something was seriously wrong with that script, and it was getting popular....so you'd have multiple instances of it doing that. That issue has been taken care of..

we see but....
shall I host my site where the host has no control over the stuff it uses or has to depend on another noc ? may be I will prefer someone who has own noc so that problems can be solved directly and not at the mercy of a 3rd party. what beats me is that there are so many hosts and there are so many posts ( as much as I have read in the last 2 days) none have this aol mail problem. ""Whether AOL listens or not is another issue. ""- so if I host with wz means I have to put up a notice on the very 1st page - this site is not for aol members - that wont look very nice of me.
nope............I dont think wz rocks for me:confused:
